Designing new features with the right isolation boundaries are extremely difficult, especially if you don't have a silo'ed product approach. Most companies don't have basic competency to build services that can fail or gracefully downgrade well.

Companies who don't understand the basics of distributed systems don't seem to get the fact that more features = more failure modes (often cascading).

Most of the work of solving problems comes down to thinking about the problem correctly in the first place.

Reindex of searchcode.com with new 1.21 Go binary. Looks to be about 50% reduction in CPU usage. You can see it after the spike where the new binary was deployed. Far smoother.

Yesterday was my second endometriosis surgery. I know this is a chronic condition and there is not cure, but can't stop feeling depressed that maybe I will require more surgeries in future. Endometriosis sucks.
