But the vast majority wanting change at least gives some hope of a more positive path forward.

For years, many Iranians were already saying this regime doesn’t negotiate in good faith and shouldn’t be legitimised. That wasn’t ignored because people didn’t know, it was ignored because it didn’t serve Western interests at the time.
So framing it now as ‘what do you suggest, cash or war?’ is a false choice.
There were always other options, and even the ones used weren’t applied properly. Sanctions, for example, didn’t just pressure the regime, they hit ordinary people hard, from inflation to access to basic medicine. That weakens society far more than it weakens those in power.
The regime’s bad faith is real. But let’s not pretend this is suddenly about helping Iranians. The approach has shifted because the regime no longer fits geopolitical interests, not because people just became a concern.
Iranians wanting change is real. Using that as a justification after years of inconsistent policy isn’t

In my view, Australian police 👮 didn’t exactly show respect here. Situations like this don’t need force….they need clarity!
I don’t think praying in the street is the right solution either. Every country needs clear #rules and guidance, and everyone should respect them. But treating people this way is not acceptable.
Instead of chaos, clear guidelines matter. Respect for public space and respect for religious practices shouldn’t be in conflict…but that balance still seems to be missing.
