@IOivm honestly, ink simulation is a solved problem for 20 years - with Moxi paper in Siggraph 2005, the foundation is very clear with 2 layers of diffusion and absorption using LBM. I appreciate artists inventing the tools they like but proper research save you a lot of time.

Somewhere around version twenty, the ink finally started to feel right. Earlier versions nailed the dry-brush vibe, but anything with more water just fell apart. After countless tests, I think I’m finally seeing a bit of light.

interactive contents for Tianxin Pavilion in Changsha, permanent install. Visitors can touch the LED screen to activate the stars - and drag them to travel through space. The star trails then form the Milky Way. #immersiveexperience #mediaart

realtime ink rendering visuals in the new piece, all jellyfish are generated procedurally with their motion sim in realtime with soft body&cloth. this is probably the first pipeline that renders in 3d space and reserves the fluid property of ink. #creativecoding #glsl

@marcinignac @threejs yes all that is great, but it essentially still try to build a principal pipeline that hides much details which you would want. maybe its just me, but I've been feeling shader graph as a collection of fixed pipeline stuff for quite some time.

@sephiroth_14 @threejs How so? "Fixed pipeline" would suggest limited functionality. So far TSL looks powerful even if you need some keyword/built-in helpers gymnastics.

Hmm, I'm split about this: - awesome how powerful @threejs TSL is and how it lowers access to shader programming - this is not glsl/wgsl but more of Unity Shader Graph by now where 50% of features are auto-magic, engine specific and not transferable to other tools/libs

Learning #tsl: Backdrop is fun. We have access to what's already been drawn. I used it with a sobel to create this effect. Most of the code is the sobel algorithm that I took from here 👉 gist.github.com/Hebali/6ebfc66…

I will be exhibiting a new version of Golden Scale, Ink Pond next week. After a few years of focusing on interactive systems it’s time to deploy new tools I made and re-think some of the old works visuals. Sep 19-20th E3 2TH #exhibitions #interactive #installation
