Imran and Bushra Khan are being tortured in custody by Pakistan's military regime. Barrister Salman Safdar, their lawyer, describes how they are isolated in their tiny, windowless cells in complete isolation for 22-23 hours each day.
He termed it "shocking and alarming" that the Jail Superintendent is subjecting Imran and Bushra Khan to punishment beyond their conviction and sentencing, however flawed that may have been.
SSP Sajid Baig, who took over as Superintendent of Adiala Jail in January 2026, is widely believed to take his orders from an army colonel who is de facto in charge of Rawalpindi's maximum-security prison.

Thanks to IPP contracts signed by PMLN, we are paying capacity payments for over 45,000 MW but govt can't even cater to the demand of 18,000 MW today.
For comparison, installed capacity in 2013 was 23,000MW

This announcement came as a shock for everyone. Why :
1. First the amount of 100 billion dollars. Staggering by any standards. No one ever knew Pakistan was that rich. That comes to literally 3 billion per month every single month over 3 years.
2. If my understanding is correct this is money laundering? What does it say about our controls, systems & all those institutions which are supposed to control and under whose watch such a staggering amount continued for 3 years.
3. Just as a reminder, our total IMF loan is only 7 billion dollars spread over 3 years. And as a condition of this loan, IMF controls literally all our financial / economic decisions. Why would we need IMF if we have so much abundance of dollars?

It is an undisputable fact that no democratic government signed this agreement. When a similar arrangement was placed in front of Nawaz Sharif, he took it to parliament, angering Saudis.
When it was placed in front of Imran Khan, he did not sign it from 2021 to 2022 till he was ousted. It is telling they had to hurry it through the caretaker cabinet.
To put pressure on Imran Khan, Bajwa got people like Najam Sethi writing articles that IK was ruining relationship with Saudi, and spread other stupid shit like IK wearing chappal ruined a relationship.
When actually, this was behind the scenes all along.
If you understand this event in 2021, a lot of other things suddenly click into place.

Do you remember when the world sanctioned us after the nuclear tests, we were given free , yes free, oil for one year by KSA? You don’t ignore old friends Saudis are not the critical regional ally you’re making them out to be. With or without them, the war would have been waged. There are too many other willing and able Muslim allies in the region, maybe not as heavyweight, but their combined powers tip the scales During the so-called peace negotiations , the imposed Pakistani government has shown that Khan is irrelevant in the scheme of things But his shadow lingers . The presence of Imran Khan would have been important long before this war started . During the genocide he would have been a vocal presence and a thorn in Israel’s side. In fact his life would have been in constant danger. In this war, he would have taken too much of a principled stand. I cannot imagine IK having survived a political storm with the international forces as powerful and malignant as they are. Perhaps it’s a good thing he’s in jail
