Today I learned about Apple video reactions (& how to disable) after having balloons float up on my zoom screen TWICE in the past couple of days with no idea why 😂 it was comedic in the moment but I wonder what kind of serious meetings this is happening in

I guess this wasn’t that much of a long shot after all - I must have finally weasled my way into dMRI twitter! Thanks to all for the great recommendations

This is a long shot... Any diffusion MRI folks out there know of a program that lets you look at specific tracts from an ROI instantaneously, like TrackVis? I love using this tool for teaching about tractography and white matter anatomy, but TrackVis won't open on my computer 😢

@cprofaci I 100% agree - I ALWAYS recommend new students choose a lab more based on the cultural fit and relationship with the PI rather than the specific topic. Grad school is hard enough as it is - support and encouragement during these times is invaluable

Agree!! IMO, finding this type of relationship is more important for grad students than the lab’s research topic. Most science can be interesting if you’re happy & inspired by the people around you!

@KRThomasPhD This is a great idea! I usually make my list on Monday but having things planned out before the weekend sounds like it would relieve a bit of that anxiety

@serasolders On Friday afternoons, I try to take a look at my schedule and make my to do list for the next week. That way, on Sundays, I at least feel like I have already prepared a little for the week ahead 🤷‍♀️

Received an ad for a direct-to-consumer "Alzheimer's test" that's simply plasma AB42/40. Concerning that anyone can now "self-diagnosis" with AD, without even a physician consultation, based on abnormal amyloid. Perhaps we're a bit over-eager with the new amyloid=AD definition?

I'll be teaching a course this Fall on fundamentals of neuroimaging (with a focus on MRI) for psychology students. Please share your favorite papers (methodological/human research/clinical/etc) that you think students new to the field should read!

I’m still not used to seeing a PhD after my name, but maybe updating my twitter name will help! Gotta learn to stop assuming all emails addressed to Dr. Solders are spam now 😂
