Mayor Mamdani’s repeated use of the “genocide” accusation against Israel is not just wrong - it’s dangerous. It distorts reality and fuels antisemitism at a moment when Jews are already under threat. Leaders who claim to stand for human rights should not use rhetoric that puts Jewish communities at risk. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry…

Aware of an active shooter at Temple Israel in Michigan. I know people who send their kids there. Trying to reach them now. Please pray.

Every single politician who failed to push back on the blood libel, who peddled in the blood libel, who endorsed those who espoused the blood libel, every single one of them is responsible for this. Jewish blood is being spilled because of these people who let their politics get in the way of doing the right thing. You didn’t have to like Israel’s conduct in Gaza. The castigation of it as “genocide” has made it acceptable to attack Jews around the world. From San Jose in @RoKhanna’s district, who peddled in the blood libel TODAY, to Boulder, Washington, and now West Bloomfield. Each of you have blood on your hands and should be shown nothing but contempt for being morally inept.

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace. I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution. Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.
