Dear Poker Community, I believe my beautiful son, Daniel, suffered from undiagnosed depression. I believe that he masked his condition and did not let anyone, not even those who loved him most, know how badly he was suffering. I believe the stress and isolation of his beloved poker job and the accompanying stresses of life exacerbated his condition. I appreciate the comments posted here because it’s clear how much you all loved him. Please be aware of your own mental health and know that while this game and lifestyle are amazing, the stress of it can put your lives at risk. Please reach out for help if you are struggling. There is no shame in that. And please don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone you suspect may be struggling. Don’t let the lessons Dan taught you on and off the felt be in vain. @sewnig Poker is unique in bringing out mental illness. I was lucky and got help. I am bi-polar & was in what seemed like an ever ending cycle down. When I finally decided I wanted to be happy again I started taking medication that I still take to this day. Thank you for sharing❤️

I’m deeply saddened to share the news that Dan @RedsoxNets5 Sewnig passed away earlier this week. He was a tremendous part of the NJ poker community since its inception and will be profoundly missed.
