President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: "As was the case yesterday, the issue today is not where Ankara stands; it is where Brussels wants to be in the world of the future and how it envisions itself. It must now be understood that a European Union without Türkiye as a full member cannot become a global actor or a centre of attraction. We are not, and will never be, a country remembered only in times of need, called upon when required, but sidelined the rest of the time. The European Union must fully appreciate the value of Türkiye’s constructive approach, must not take it for granted, and must refrain from actions and rhetoric that would undermine it. It should not be forgotten that Türkiye is no longer the Türkiye of the past, nor is the world confined, as it once was, to the “sphere of influence” of Western states. A new world is being formed—one in which regional cooperation is gaining importance, new actors are emerging, and the global system is rapidly evolving towards multipolarity. And Türkiye stands among the strongest candidates to become one of the poles of the new system. Let me state this clearly… Today, Europe’s need for Türkiye is greater than Türkiye’s need for Europe; and this need will grow even further tomorrow."

Within the scope of our visit, we met with: •Vice Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, Italian National Armaments Director, •Mr Jiří Šedivý, former Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency (EDA), •Ms Tarja Jaakkola, Chair of the CNAD and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment, Innovation and Capability, •Lieutenant General Kemal Turan, Head of the Turkish Military Representation to NATO. The meetings we held have provided an important basis for further advancing cooperation opportunities in the defence industry within the framework of NATO and the broader European security architecture. Our contacts in Brussels have once again confirmed that while Türkiye has long been regarded as a key member of the Alliance by virtue of having NATO’s second-largest army, today it has also become a defence industry solution partner for all its friends and allies, including NATO member states, through its indigenously and nationally developed land, air, and naval platforms, electronic warfare and communications systems, air defence systems, and smart as well as conventional munitions. At a time when unpredictability is increasingly becoming the defining norm of the international environment, our R&D strength and serial production capacity further reinforce our country’s strategic effectiveness in the field of defence industry. The position Türkiye has attained in the international arena stands as one of the clearest manifestations of the collective success of our national defence industry ecosystem, shaped in line with the vision set forth by H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I extend my sincere thanks to all our interlocutors for the productive discussions and their kind hospitality.

The NATO Summit, to be held in Ankara on 7–8 July, is not merely a diplomatic gathering; it marks a critical juncture that will help shape the future of the global security architecture. Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye continues to play a decisive role in the global order as an actor that assumes responsibility, provides solutions, and translates the spirit of the Alliance into action on the ground. With its geostrategic position, strong commitment to the Alliance, and effective role in crisis management, Türkiye remains at the heart of transatlantic security. As the host of NATO leaders, Türkiye will once again demonstrate its firm commitment to strengthening peace, stability, and collective security.

🇧🇦My mission to the Western Balkans ended with a visit that reminds us that stability and security in the Balkans are essential: Srebrenica, sadly known for the genocide that took place there in 1995. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to remember, support international justice, and reject any form of denial or glorification of war crimes. Diplomacy is not only about institutions and agreements; it is also a question of humanity. Acknowledging suffering, listening to communities, and recognising the dignity of every identity are essential steps toward rebuilding trust. In a region where memories remain vivid and identities are often politicised, continuing to connect people and perspectives is indispensable for reconciliation. Supporting regional stability in the Western Balkans is not merely a strategic priority; it is a responsibility we share to ensure that peace, coexistence, and mutual understanding remain the foundations upon which the region can continue to build. As conclusion of my mission, let me underline it again: the Western Balkans deserve our attention and support. Claims circulating on certain social media accounts and disinformation-driven platforms alleging that “Türkiye has supplied Iran with advanced anti-aircraft and UAV missiles, and that a U.S.-made F-15 fighter jet—reportedly shot down—was hit by a Turkish-made man-portable air defence system” are entirely unfounded and do not reflect reality. Such baseless allegations—whose origin can be inferred—constitute deliberate psychological warfare and black propaganda aimed at undermining Türkiye’s constructive role in regional crises, as well as its diplomacy and peace-oriented efforts. Türkiye maintains a principled stance focused on preserving peace and stability across all processes in the region. These perception management operations, targeting Türkiye’s globally recognised diplomatic achievements, seek to mislead international public opinion. No credence should be given to such malicious disinformation campaigns intended to manipulate the public and disrupt the delicate balance in the region. It is of utmost importance to exercise caution against speculative claims originating from non-official sources.

As a member of NATO since 1952, Türkiye continues to uphold its leading role within the Alliance—the cornerstone of Euro-Atlantic security—guided by a resolute and comprehensive approach to security. Türk Hava Sahasında Etkisiz Hâle Getirilen Balistik Füze ile İlgili Açıklama Statement on the Ballistic Missile Neutralized in Turkish Airspace #MillîSavunmaBakanlığı

A ballistic missile launched from Iran and detected heading towards Türkiye was timely engaged and neutralised by NATO air and missile defence assets over the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep. No casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident. The development has been closely monitored by all our institutions since the very first moment, and the necessary defence and security measures have been promptly activated. In this context, all relevant units, particularly the Ministry of National Defence, are acting in full coordination. The will and capability of our state to protect Türkiye’s airspace and border security are at the highest level. It is of great importance that tensions in the region do not escalate further and that the conflict does not spread to a wider area. We once again strongly reiterate our warning to all parties, particularly Iran, to refrain from actions that could endanger regional security and put civilians at risk. During this period, we kindly request that our citizens and media organisations exercise due caution regarding unverified content that may cause public panic or contain disinformation, and that they rely solely on statements issued by our official authorities.
