@BBCBreakfast Thanks, but…. What we actually need are more trained GPs and clinicians Successive manifesto promises = 6000 more GPs Numbers are falling and the toxic media and political rhetoric is accelerating this trend. Work force planning requires long term investment not lies

Thank you @BBCBreakfast and @DrRosemaryL for finally shouting out for General Practice. Am totally deflated and demotivated but the GP bashing. GP constitutes 80% of nhs care yet we get 20% of the budget. There won’t be a GP if it continues ☹️

@DrGoblin3 This clearly needs to be settled by a drinking contest. Specialists have to take a drink for every patient that the GPs see and never refer. GP’s have to take a drink for every patient seen by a specialist because GP’s have refused to. It’ll all be over pretty quickly.

At a wedding. Loads of doctors, some of us are GPs. It’s all kicking off as the hospitalists declare they’re seeing patients as we refuse. Oh ffs. Sigh.

@UniOfYork @UoYArchaeology That was most appalling graduation ceremony i have had to encounter. Not only was it virtual ( absolutely no reason why it could not be F2F - lots of other unis have managed it) … but you could not even be bothered to read out the graduate names or show their award on the lists

Increasing the number of training places is only part of the solution! If we don’t pay nurses what they deserve for the value they bring, provide ongoing development as a right not a privilege and open up the doors for career progression, we will never fix this chronic shortage!

What I don’t understand is if a patient needs regular blood tests for their hospital Rx why hospital asks GPs to do them. This is massively excess work for us. Surely hospitals has access to paper, computers, blood tests, phlebotomy? This has to stop. We are not PA’s.

We are currently in the process of designing a website for Practice Nurses and wanted some ideas of what should be included - what information/activities would help you?

Already hearing stories of practices saying to nurses that the 2.1% pay uplift in the new GP contract - isn’t really there - practices offering 1% Accountability is needed now in general practice to ensure public money goes where it is intended - tired of the gaslighting. 1/

It’s not just GPs, practice nurses & other staff are struggling too. Nurses tell us they’re thinking of leaving due to t&c, & value, reception staff receive abuse - real change in general practice is needed. @ClareGerada @Heatherrandle5 @BMA_GP @pulsetoday

Exclusive: GPs are facing the worst burnout crisis for over a decade and must have the support to demand national leaders address spiralling #workload, says @ClareGerada pulsetoday.co.uk/news/workload/…

With an easing of some restrictions only hours away, and availability of LFDs to all adults that they could do before travelling, why do England’s university students still have no clarity on when they can return to campuses where covid protocols already exist? #students #uni
