Mountain View Community, Over the past several months, we’ve heard from community members about safety concerns involving e-bike, motorized scooter, and bicycle riders in Mountain View. Our top priority is keeping everyone safe — whether you’re on two wheels, four, or on foot. In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing important information about e-bike safety, speed limits, equipment requirements, and road rules. Our goal is to help riders and their families understand how to stay safe and comply with the law. Our department, which includes Patrol Officers and the School Resource Officer, will continue to discuss safe riding habits and the requirements for commuting around town with students, staff, and parents. Education and awareness come first, because safety starts with understanding. Working together, we can ensure our roads are safe for everyone.

During the Holiday Enforcement Period, CHP officers issued 2,172 seat belt citations to drivers and passengers who chose not to buckle up. Seat belts remain one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and your loved ones on the road. Buckle up every time.

Great work by alert SJPD Foothill Division Patrol Officers during a traffic violation stop, in which they seized 2 loaded firearms, illegal narcotics, an extended magazine and extra ammo from 17- and 18-yr-old suspects from out of town.

Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with a shooting spree in Austin, Texas, during which multiple locations including fire stations, apartments, and homes were targeted, leaving four people injured.

The two suspects in a Monday shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego are dead, according to a police source. The Islamic Center is the largest mosque in San Diego County, according to its website. Aerial TV footage showed more than a dozen children holding hands and being walked out of the parking lot of the center that is surrounded by scores of police vehicles.
