We've been hiring engineers for the last 7 weeks and the consensus on my team is that this is the hardest engineering recruiting cycle ever. It's like AI has rotted people's brains. We routinely interview experienced-on-paper candidates who know nothing and are unable to code. I first started interviewing engineers eight-and-a-half years ago, and back then I never ran into candidates who would simply give up during a technical interview. We had two of them just last week. Something's in the water.

I am on the @FedEx website. I am trying to use their "print and go" service to print and mail a document. This is one of FedEx's main offerings, surely used by tens of thousands of people a day. FedEx has a $53B market cap. Using this feature requires me to pick a FedEx office for my print request, using their "FedEx Office Locations" picker. It's an in-browser scrollable map that shows a list of location addresses. In the map, I try to zoom in on San Francisco to get the FedEx closest to my house. But whenever I zoom in far enough using the zoom button, the map resets back to being fully zoomed out. It tells me to alternatively use ctrl + scroll to zoom on the map, but this only zooms while the map is in a fully-loaded state. Once you begin zooming, the map enters a loading state, during which ctrl + scroll will instead change the magnification of your browser window, and take you out of the map. This is so dispiriting and abhorrent. How can engineers ship this? How can businesspeople tolerate such atrocious experiences, which surely bring shame on their products and companies? I am so disgusted. As a customer, I feel personally deeply disrespected by this revolting lack of care.

If you know a lot about software, then you will recognize how poorly most of it is built. But it's not poor by happenstance, it is poor by choice. And the choice of the software publisher is that they don't care about you. This is just so sad.

Waiting for Dutch authorities and then the EU to approve. Very frustrating and hurts the safety of people in Europe, as driving with advanced Autopilot on results in four times fewer injuries! Please ask your governing authorities to accelerate making Tesla safer in Europe.
Alexander Kristensen@LinkN01

It's ridiculous how they have Robotaxis in Austin without ANY driver, yet my Tesla here in Sweden is not even allowed to change lanes on the highway without me confirming with the turn signal 🤡

Vi får beskjed om at økte råvarepriser globalt er det som står bak prisøkningen på mat her i Norge. Men hvorfor øker da prisen på rene matvarer vi selv produserer?

@elonmusk @DOGE Lol…. What we really needed was a team of highly-paid consultants to fly business class to Monrovia and explain the revolutionary concept that people should pay taxes. — How else would they know?

Among many other things, @DOGE today canceled a $17M project to provide tax policy advice to Liberia. Why would anyone think that this is a good use of YOUR tax money? 🤦‍♂️

This is why we are saying NO to the EU’s “clean energy” package: Norway has 100 percent hydropower. Nevertheless, the EU requires us to introduce mandatory solar cells on all new buildings from 2040 because our buildings must become "net zero emission buildings". In Norway. Where we hardly see the sun half the year! The EU's plan is to suck everyone into the abyss.
Espen Teigen@espenteigen

Norge har 100 prosent vannkraft. Likevel krever EU at vi skal innføre obligatorisk solceller på alle nye bygg fra 2040 fordi byggene våre skal bli «netto nullutslippsbygg». I Norge. Hvor vi knapt ser sola halve året! EUs plan er å suge med seg alle ned i avgrunnen.

@espenteigen I doubt you yourself have read any documents on this subject. It was Norway and Iceland themselves who entered into cooperation with EU on climate actions.

Får omsider sett NRK Debatten fra i går. Meget interessant.

If you're wondering why Norwegian immigration policies are a problem, here's why: The Norwegian asylum system is formally considered trust-based. This means that the state assumes that asylum seekers are telling the truth, which means that the burden of proof lies with our justice and immigration authorities to refute claims that are the basis for asylum. Did you know that the immigrant can change their asylum history even after the first history - e.g. a story built on false identity which turned out to be untrue, and go through the whole appeals process again with their new story?
