Actually not true in death cases. At least in WI. A lawyer told me that I would have to prove that a person who died from medical negligence and also had cancer would not have died of the cancer if the negligence never happened. Impossible, of course! Different states have different statutes. So if not in WI, lucky.

If you don’t have creditable coverage through your job or retirement and don’t take Medicare Part B or D when first eligible, you will be penalized for the rest of your life when you take them. Part B is 10% a month. Part D is 1% a month. You may think a heart attack, stroke, cancer, COPD, etc… will never happen to you. Please keep B & D. You will thank me later.

MORE ADVENTURES WITH SOCIAL SECURITY! Last week I posted about how Social Security auto-enrolled me for Plan B without my consent. I called them and spoke to a very nice lady who emailed me the unenrollment form and told me I could upload it through the Social Security portal. I did that. Then I found out I have a friend inside Social Security, and she told me to call today to find out the status, so I did. BLACK FEMALE CS REP: "Sir, it's only been a week, it could take up to 60 days for it to be processed. Where did you send it?" ME: "I uploaded it through the portal." BLACK FEMALE CS REP: "Well if you did that it's never gonna be processed. You have to print out the form, take it to a post office and mail it, and even then it could take up to 60 days for us to process it. ME: "But the young lady last week emailed me Form CMS1763 and said I could do it on the portal and that would be fine." BLACK FEMALE CS REP: "Well, I dont know why she told you that, but nothing is gonna happen until you mail it to us." ME: "So you mean in 2026 I have to take Lyft to a Kinkos, print it out, buy a stamp, mail it and wait. And you will continue to steal $200 out of my check every month until you get around to processing it?" BLACK FEMALE CS REP: "Well, we're not stealing it because you'll get it back effective the date of the unenrollment." ME: "But I still have to spend a bunch of money to do things the paper way in 2026, when everything else on earth is done over the internet. Why do you people make everything harder for seniors. Suppose I'm sick and shut in, it would be just "screw me," right? BLACK FEMALE CS REP: "Sir, I can't speak to that but would you like the address to mail it to." I begrudgingly said yes, but again I ask: Why does the federal government make everything harder for the people least capable of dealing with it?

@DogeofDoge @IndianaGPA I am severely hearing impaired, legally deaf, and I don’t wear hearing aids. There are many reasons for deafness. Hearing aids are not a cure all.

It’s very clear you have no understanding of levels of deafness. Those of us who have long had deafness learn many ways to adapt. That FA should be fired immediately! Some are so hopped up on power that they remove people they simply don’t like. That FA should have to walk a mile in a severely hearing impaired or deaf person’s shoes. Then get a new job

Keep in mind that if you do not have credible coverage and do not take part the prescription coverage when you are first eligible, you will be penalized for the rest of your life when you do take it for having taken it late. You’re absolutely should always have part D because there are some very very expensive drugs, and your health could change at any time

If you want to roll the dice, I think you could skip prescription drug coverage. Some pharmacies that are “cash only” price their drugs MUCH LOWER than an insurance company would. I switched from Humana to WellCare 1.5 years ago; my Humana premiums were $102/month & co-pay for 1 cheap monthly prescription was $36. With WellCare my premiums went from $0/month in 2025 to $5/month in 2026! My copay? $3.00!

Help me understand this insurance thing: I turn 65 in two weeks and I’m supposed to pay for Medicare Part B if I want to see a doctor or get my prescriptions. Which means I will pay about $203 a month so that if I need to go to the doctor a year from now, I only have to kick in a small co-pay. But in reality, I will have spent $2400+ for the privilege? How does that make any sense? I’m a single male, no dependents, and I take care of my health. I’ve never owned a car so I don’t pay car insurance. I rent, so I don’t have homeowners insurance. I have insurance through my work, but apparently it becomes secondary after Medicare on my next birthday. So I can’t see why I’m supposed to pay for and worry about future health problems. I feel like I'm being extorted by the federal government to pay for something I don't want. Can anyone clarify this for me, because it doesn’t make any sense from a financial standpoint?

@SirBylHolte @SalsaPrice Prescriptions are not part of part B. As long as you are still working and have credible insurance, then you are not required to take either part B or part D which is your prescription coverage. When you retire, you will need to take part B and part D.

This woman called the police on her neighbors once, three years ago for having a loud party at night. For the next three years, every time the neighbors go by the hour or even their friends go by, they honk their horn in their cars at her house at all hours of the days. She’s grown very irritated at this and feels like this is harassment. The police can’t do anything about people honking their horn at you so she had to suffer in silence until today she finally snapped and laid into them. Its affecting her young children’s sleeping schedules too, is there anything else she can do at this point to get it to stop?

Please Do Not invite anybody you just met over to your house‼️❗️ Just watched a video about how a girl went on a date with a guy she met on a dating app. The date went very well, they had good vibes. They went their separate ways afterwards and once she got home, he ended up asking her could he come over because he was stuck outside due to his roommate not answering the phone. She wasn't really thinking much of it because of how well the date went so she let him come over. They chill For a bit and then she tells him that she's going to bed and he can stay on the couch until he gets a response from his roommate. She goes in her room and locks her door. She fell asleep, and then she hears a knock on her door. The guy is at the door telling her that his phone died and he needs a charger so he can see when his roommate text back. she doesn't open the door, she just tells him that it should be one in the kitchen drawer. He comes back and knocks on the door again and tells her that the charger isn't working and asked her do she have a charger inside of her room. She started to get skeptical because she felt like he really just wanted her to come out the bedroom. She then calls 911: 911 comes and they are able to get inside her house. They knocks on her bedroom door and tell her they need her to come out to show her what's inside her living room.. it was PLASTIC TARP laid out in her living room with tools lined up. 😳😳😳

Everyone told me to throw it out. The contractor, my sister, even my own husband said, "Maureen just get a new one from Home Depot and be done with it." This stove belonged to my grandmother. A 1950s Chambers, white with chrome handles, six burners, double ovens, built in warming drawers, the kind of thing they simply do not make anymore. It sat in her kitchen in the house on Maple Street for over 40 years. She cooked every holiday meal on it, every birthday cake, every pot of Sunday sauce that made the whole block smell like garlic and tomatoes. When she died in 2019 the house went up for sale and my uncle was going to let the new owners gut the kitchen. I drove four hours with a rented truck and two guys from Craigslist to pull that stove out of there. It sat in my garage for almost three years because I couldn't afford to restore it. It was rusted in places, the enamel was chipped, two of the burners didn't work, and one of the oven doors wouldn't close right. Every time I walked past it to get to the washing machine I'd run my hand across the top and whisper, "I'm going to fix you, just wait." My husband thought I was losing it. Then last year I got a small inheritance from an aunt on my dad's side, not much, but enough. I found a guy who specializes in vintage appliance restoration and he spent three months bringing her back to life. The day they delivered it into my kitchen and I saw it sitting there under the warm light, looking exactly like it did in grandma's house, I sat on my kitchen floor and sobbed. That white enamel shining, the chrome polished like mirrors, the burners clicking on perfectly. I bake on it now every Sunday. The percolator on the stovetop is one I found through a seller’s shop who had a collection full of restored vintage enamelware and I nearly screamed when I saw it because it's almost identical to the one grandma used. I've since decorated the whole area with handmade vintage style kitchen pieces I bought from different artisan shops, the little timer, the ceramic utensil holder, all of it. People come over and stand in my kitchen staring at this stove like it's a museum piece and I just smile because they have no idea. It's not a stove. It's every Christmas morning, every burnt cookie we laughed about, every conversation we had while she stirred something on the back burner. They told me to throw it out. I'm so glad I never listened. By Amanda cain

My friend had an abscessed tooth. Dental insurance denied the root canal. "Maxed out benefits for the year." He couldn't afford the $1,500 out of pocket. So he waited. The infection spread to his blood. Sepsis. He was rushed to the ER. Spent 4 days in the ICU. Total bill: $56,000. Medical insurance paid it instantly. They refused to pay $1,500 to prevent the problem, but happily paid $56,000 to fix the near-death experience caused by the problem. The system isn't just cruel. It is mathematically stupid.

Sounds like the dental office is who you should’ve been upset with. Your contract clearly had a limitation of once every 10 years, which you are responsible to know yourself. That said the dentist office certainly should also have had that on their treatment plan and pointed it out to you specifically.

Poor thing. 😟 Dental work is racket. My husband had to have a bridge replaced and it was over $5000. He has dental insurance but because the old bridge was less than 10 years old they would not cover it. The dental office never told us this, although they said they verified coverage. Live and learn...

My friend has a severe tooth infection. His face is swollen. He is in agony. He went to the dentist. Option A: Root canal and crown to save the tooth. Cost: $2,200. Option B: Pull the tooth. Cost: $250. He works full-time. He has "health" insurance. But health insurance doesn't consider teeth to be part of the human body. He chose Option B. He is 28 years old and had to mutilate his smile because he couldn't afford to save it. Teeth shouldn't be luxury items.

First off there are no Dental Insurance in the US. For some reason in the US Dental and Eyes are "special" apart from Health Insurance. Marketing made them look like "insurance" but in reality they are merely "assistance". Even the BEST plans (which I have) stop payment after $1,000 and the rest is on your own.
