Threatening to target power plants and other non-military targets is not strength. If those words become orders to destroy civilian infrastructure with no valid military purpose, it’s hard to see how they would not violate the laws of armed conflict. China is not a pure example of socialism or capitalism. It’s a state-led system that used market mechanisms to achieve growth. So whether it “counts” as socialism depends on how narrowly someone defines the term. If markets alone are enough, why didn’t every country that opened up achieve China’s scale of poverty reduction?

China lifted 800 million people out of poverty not through communism but by creating Special Economic Zones where capitalism was allowed to function. Shenzhen went from a fishing village to a megacity because the government said "in this specific area, you can build freely.” That should tell you something about what works and what doesn't. Even the world's largest communist country had to let capitalism in through the back door to feed its people.
