But nutrition labels aren’t based on how much heat something produces when burned. They’re based on what the human body can actually absorb and use for energy. That distinction matters for ingredients found in David, such as fiber, sweeteners, and fat substitutes like EPG. Burning them in a bomb calorimeter treats them as fully digestible calories, even though they are not. That’s why the FDA requires different calculation methods for these ingredients when determining calories. David is 150 calories.

@PeterRahal I’m assuming most of your customers that are consuming David bars are trying to be health-conscious and are taking a step towards that by consuming a product that says 150 cal with 28 g of protein. However, that is not really the case.

@PeterRahal I understand your claim that about 110 cal are insoluble. However, a calorie is a calorie and as a consumer I want to know all the data and it’s on me to decide if that works for me or not.
