Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war. Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.
I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution.
Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

Put your political alignment aside, and tell me when the world was better off when America wasn’t leading the way? We would all be speaking German if it wasn’t for the US (and her allies).
As a footnote, and perhaps most importantly: all those people protesting for whatever reason they please, you can thank the US for that freedom. That’s right, there was a time when both democrats and republicans believed that freedom was the most important aspect of society.
Progress is not linear, it waxes and wanes, but all in all I would rather live in a world led by the US and her allies, as opposed to a world run by the despots you all glorify.

Today is a new day for New York City.
Personally, I did not vote for Mamdani, nor do I believe he is the right choice to lead our city. But the beauty of democracy is that it reflects the will of the people - and while I oppose the Socialist ideals he promotes, I recognize that he won - won fairly - and now has the opportunity to govern. That is the contract of our Republic: the people choose, and we respect the outcome, even when we disagree with it.
To those threatening to leave New York City, I say this: leave, if you must. But true New Yorkers don’t flee at the first sign of difficulty. True New Yorkers stay. We dig our heels in, we fight for our City - with our words, our minds and our influence. We rebuild, we argue, we create and we endure. That is the spirit that made this City the greatest in the world.
For those who lived through the 1980s and earlier, we know how bad things can become. Crime, decay, despair - it was all here once. And we fought our way back. Perhaps this new era will serve as a hard but necessary lesson for a new generation to experience firsthand what happens when idealism collides with reality.
For those of us who do not support this new direction, our responsibility is clear: we must remain laser-focused on what truly matters: Safety. Infrastructure. Cleanliness. Education. Affordability. These are not partisan issues; they are the foundation of a functioning city. And while we may differ in ideology, surely we can all agree on one truth: you cannot govern a city with high taxes and low quality of life. That is a losing formula - every time.
To those who voted for Mamdani, I am sorry you feel capitalism has failed you. My sincere hope is that over the coming years, you come to see that socialism, while seductive in theory, has never worked in practice - not here, not anywhere.
As for me, I am staying. I love ❤️ NY - even when it makes mistakes. Especially when it makes mistakes. Because New York has always been about resilience, reinvention, and the belief that no matter how bad things get, this City will rise again.
