@_RoadToSuccess_ Not true about grapes and wine. Good quality grapes used with intent to create good wine. Better comparison is, grapes that grow in difficult conditions tend to have more character. Same goes for people. It’s a good message about mistakes but bad examples. Hope they learn from it

UPHOLDING NORMS is like engaging in CONSENSUAL SEX. If BOTH people do it, it's good, if only ONE person does it, it's rape. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CONSENTUAL SEX WITH ONLY ONE PERSON CONSENTING, much like THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS UPHOLDING NORMS IF ONLY ONE SIDE DOES IT. The ONLY time a MAGAt ever considers morality is when he's analyzing a Democrat's behavior. ------ A more serious/sober take on the Hunter Biden pardon - "Norms" exist because, if both sides play by them, they guarantee some minimum level of decorum or behavior that allows both sides to function on a more sophisticated level, allowing for more opportunity and better outcomes for everyone involved. e.g.: if everyone on the block agrees not to steal from each other, people can leave their houses during the day to go do more productive work, rather than sitting at home, guarding their possessions all night. Trump pardoned some people convicted of literally the exact same crimes that Hunter was convicted of (see: Kodak Black, convicted of possession of drugs + firearms - rollingstone.com/music/music-ne…). Trump pardoned people close to him due to family relations, like Charles Kushner, who also were convicted of tax evasion (see: apnews.com/article/donald…). And, at his absolute worst, Trump pardoned people who lied in order to cover up his crimes, people who were literally convicted for obstructing investigations to cover for Trump, like Roger Stone (see: nytimes.com/2020/07/10/us/…). Some people are saying "now Republicans are going to do whatever they want!" Excuse me? What WEREN'T they doing before??? Some people are saying "now the Democrats have no moral ground to stand on!" Excuse me? Because the president used his Pardon power? The Hunter pardon isn't even REMOTELY in the same ballpark as the three listed above. Republicans are amoral, do not ever play into their framework of trying to argue for some "return to normalcy" or argue about "abuse of presidential power," it is a joke to them, and they don't believe in it.

I know it’s five hours long, but anyone that thinks Destiny lost the Finkelstein debate didn’t watch it. From hours 1-3, he barely talks. He mostly asks polite pointed questions, to tries to shake Finkelstein from talking points. Finkelstein responds with childish insults and pretends to not know his name. Ironic that Destiny, the streamer, is the mature adult. When you get to Gaza, it gets more heated. Finkelstein makes assertions, and Destiny challenges them, quoting the source material. Finkelstein keeps repeating “Wikipedia” like it’s a response to the point, and does not engage. It’s basically a temper tantrum for the next 90 minutes. For the last 30 minutes, Destiny has had enough and it gets heated. Yeah, there’s a clip of Finkelstein insulting Destiny that’s entertaining. I like drama too. But you WILL NOT FIND a clip of Destiny making a point and Finkelstein responding with a fact or rebutting it. Insults, belittling him, pretending to not know his name. It’s embarrassing to watch. And frankly, it makes me question the intellectual integrity I assume when someone is in academia.

Life's a roller-coaster: after the excitement of getting my novel out these past few days, today I was let go from my work. Nothing to do with me, just slow sales and I was the last one hired. It hurts. I've been sitting here stunned all day.💔 #opentowork

It's completely possible (and often the case) for multiple parties to be simultaneously understandable, yet wholely condemnable, when it comes to violent actions. Israel should not be confining those in the Gaza strip to such horrible conditions. The settlements need to not only stop, but be withdrawn from much (if not all) of the West Bank. However, there is clearly a security risk posed to Israelis by those in Gaza. Hamas aren't attacking Israel because of the settlements and they'd just as soon kill every Jewish person if they had the chance to, it's literally part of their creed and the backbone to the foundation of Hamas. It's understandable why those in Palestine would want to fight back. It's not acceptable to capture, torture, rape, murder and defile the corpses of civilians from Israel, though. Recording yourselves doing it and throwing it into the internet to show off your savagery to the world reveals far more intent than simply "freedom fighting." Anyone who says this is "based" or "revolutionary" is showing their true colors. 80 years ago they would be cheering on Jews being trained off to Auschwitz. The deaths of Palestinians far outnumber the deaths of Israelis, for a variety of reasons, and it's fair to take that into account when weighing up the responsibilities of both sides to end these struggles. But remember, while Israel might dwarf Palestine on its own, Israel stands against a wave of enemies in the Middle East. If Palestinians stopped fighting, perhaps conditions would grow worse for them, or perhaps not. If Israel stops fighting, it will cease to exist, and all her citizens are likely to face the same treatment you've seen today in videos spammed across Twitter and the news today. The violence is tragic, none of it should be celebrated, no one should be giddy for vengeance or continuous bloodshed. If this situation is to ever be resolved, far more sober minds need to prevail in these conversations, rather than the ideologically partisan ones that look to co-opt every tragedy around the world to further themselves.

@JS_WineDad Not surprised by prices honestly after reading the amount of strict work that goes into it, by probably only a very small amount of people in the industry. That’s some expensive labour.

@sharpsipper Thanks Jen! These tasted and rated Napa kosher wines sure sound delicious and better than Concord, but did you see some of the prices?! No wonder this one still sells ;-)

@sommtv When we we’re starting blinds, “Think like a detective and argue like a lawyer.” Helped with breaking down the components of each wine and even if you got the final wine wrong, if you argued well you still get some marks. It also helped retain the information each time writing.

@WineFolly Left-bank Bordeaux. Just kidding, dry Erbaluce from Piedmont, or Loire whites typically are my preference. (Citrus, floral, maybe a tiny bit of tropical, saline, and green)

@saylor While I love & am curious about potential of AI, I’m worried that we will go too far and develop something that cannot be “switched off”. This is beyond the moral questions of “should”. What happens if the paper clip theory happens or worse.. if it intentionally ends us.
