कोल्हापूरमध्ये आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट स्टेडियम उभारण्यासाठी कोल्हापूर जिल्हा क्रिकेट असोसिएशनला ३० एकर जागा हस्तांतरित करण्याचा महाराष्ट्र शासनाचा ऐतिहासिक निर्णय.. कोल्हापूर जिल्हा क्रिकेट असोसिएशनच्या अध्यक्षपदाची सूत्रे हाती घेतल्यानंतर कोल्हापूरमध्ये आंतरराष्ट्रीय दर्जाचे क्रिकेट स्टेडियम साकारावे, याकरिता मी प्रयत्न सुरू केले होते. यासाठी करवीर तालुक्यातील विकासवाडी येथे महाराष्ट्र औद्योगिक विकास महामंडळाच्या ताब्यात असलेल्या जमिनींपैकी तीस एकर जमीन कोल्हापूर जिल्हा क्रिकेट असोसिएशनला हस्तांतरित करावी, यासाठी आमचा शासकीय स्तरावर पाठपुरावा सुरू होता. याबाबत तत्कालीन उपमुख्यमंत्री कै. अजितदादा पवार यांना संबंधित सर्व विभागांची संयुक्त बैठक घेण्याची विनंती केली होती. ०३ सप्टेंबर २०२४ रोजी तत्कालीन उपमुख्यमंत्री कै. अजितदादा पवार यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली मंत्रालय येथे उच्चस्तरीय बैठक आयोजित करण्यात आली होती. या बैठकीत कोल्हापूर येथे आंतरराष्ट्रीय दर्जाचे क्रिकेट स्टेडियम उभारण्यासाठी विकासवाडी येथील महाराष्ट्र औद्योगिक विकास महामंडळाच्या ताब्यात असलेल्या जमिनीपैकी तीस एकर जमीन कोल्हापूर जिल्हा क्रिकेट असोसिएशनला देण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला होता. त्यानुसार, आज मुंबई येथे झालेल्या मंत्रिमंडळ बैठकीत हा निर्णय सर्वानुमते मंजूर झाला असून कोल्हापुरात लवकरच आंतरराष्ट्रीय दर्जाचे क्रिकेट स्टेडियम साकारण्याचा मार्ग मोकळा झालेला आहे. हा निर्णय कोल्हापूरच्या क्रीडा विश्वासाठी मैलाचा दगड ठरेल. कोकण व पश्चिम महाराष्ट्राच्या ग्रामीण भागातील अनेक होतकरू खेळाडूंना याचा लाभ होणार आहे. कोल्हापूर जिल्ह्यातील क्रिकेटप्रेमींनी आणि खेळाडूंनी अनेक वर्षे स्वप्नात पाहिलेले क्रीडांगण आता साकार होणार आहे. मुंबई, पुण्यानंतर आता कोल्हापूरही आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेटच्या नकाशावर येणार आहे. त्यामुळे माझ्यासाठी हा अत्यंत अभिमानाचा क्षण आहे. यासाठी सदैव सकारात्मक राहिलेले तत्कालीन उपमुख्यमंत्री कै. अजितदादा पवार, मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस, उपमुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे, उपमुख्यमंत्री सुनेत्रावहिनी पवार, महसूल मंत्री चंद्रशेखर बावनकुळे व उद्योगमंत्री उदय सामंत यांचे मन:पूर्वक आभार व्यक्त करतो. त्याचबरोबर, कोल्हापूरचे पालकमंत्री प्रकाश आबिटकर, तत्कालीन पालकमंत्री हसन मुश्रीफ, राज्याचे मंत्रीमंडळ, जिल्हातील सर्व खासदार व आमदार, मंत्रालयातील महसूल, अर्थ, उद्योग व क्रीडा विभागांचे सचिव, कोल्हापूरचे जिल्हाधिकारी व क्रीडा विभागाचे अधिकारी, महाराष्ट्र क्रिकेट असोसिएशन, केडीसीएचे बाळ पाटणकर, ऋतुराज इंगळे, विकासवाडीचे ग्रामस्थ तसेच संबंधित प्रशासकीय अधिकाऱ्यांचेही मन:पूर्वक आभार व्यक्त करतो.
