This was land that the Amish family across the street used to graze their cattle. Now it’s home to one of the ugliest solar complexes in the county. The Amish will probably be the last people feeding us 30 years from now when the current generation of farmers retires. What an awful ending to farmland. This hideous sight has become common in rural Upstate NY. We’re losing our history, culture, and viewsheds alongside the land that feeds us.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD WITH MULTIPLE STOLEN VEHICLE ARRESTS WAS LIVING IN TAXPAYER-FUNDED HOUSING NEAR MY SISTER’S HOME. And nobody in the media seems interested in asking how or why this keeps happening... Almost two months ago, my sister’s car was stolen right out of her driveway. The person arrested already had FIVE additional stolen vehicle arrests on his record, along with other charges involving weapons, domestic incidents, and retail theft. I later learned he was staying in TAXPAYER-FUNDED “emergency housing” at a hotel within walking distance of her neighborhood. So here’s the question: WHY IS THE ERIE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES PLACING REPEAT OFFENDERS IN UNSUPERVISED HOUSING NEAR NEIGHBORHOODS, RETAIL PLAZAS, AND DIRECT THRUWAY ACCESS? I submitted a FOIL request asking: - Are background checks or risk assessments conducted? - How are criminal histories evaluated before placement? - Are law enforcement or housing providers notified? - What safety protocols are in place? - How many placements involved individuals with felony records? - How many placements were terminated over public safety concerns? So far, the county keeps responding with: “We need more time.” Unbelievable.

"Fuel prices have surged in recent months, hurting working families and small businesses the most, and it is crucial that we provide New Yorkers relief," Governor Hochul said. At that same time, @markpoloncarz sent a resolution to the Erie County Leg - and it was immediately passed. @JoeBiden was President at that time. Gas prices skyrocketed from the Russia/Ukraine war.
