@davepl1968 No part of the 1969 control room had BSODs or Windows-Update-Risk. Everything there was handmade and reliable. The only reason things work today for the Moon project is because they have so many backups

Hot Take: When you're spending a few billion anyway, make the control center look like it. This should be the set from Wargames at a minimum, not a hotel meeting room with a projector.

This is my truck. I restored it myself, except for the paint and the automatic transmission. It took me five years. I started with a well-loved but tired 100,000-mile truck that had been owned by the original owner for nearly 50 years. Then I got a notebook, a camera, and started taking it apart. I just removed the next obvious thing. I'd take pictures from a couple of angles, take notes, remove them, tag them, sort them, and store them. I eventually stripped the truck all the way down to the two bare frame rails. Then I had that frame blasted and powder coated. Next, I restored every subassembly and component. Then I started reassembly. Believe it or not, I just used my notes in reverse order, and as you'd hope, it worked perfectly. It was rust-free, but I had the paintwork done by Musclecar Restorations in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Nope, not ornaments. My friend is going through the house where her grandma and aunt lived their whole lives and finding weird stuff. Apparently these are solid and very heavy; too heavy to hang on a tree. What are they

If you're wondering, I got that response about thirty minutes ago on my iPhone. This isn't a meme from a humor site. It's real, and current.

@nickchapsas I have zero (not one) issue with Windows. I write enterprise software now for 30 years. I built my own machine and don't run OE windows. Not. One. Issue. No bloating. OneDrive JUST WORKS and I disabled co-pilot. No warnings, no ads, no suggestions. Just productivity.

@WilCantrell @nickchapsas Clearing ads of your desktop? I don’t even know what you’re talking about. And OneDrive reminders? What are you on about? 🤔 I think the problem may be sitting in between the chair and keyboard 😉 But hey: if it works for you, then it’s all good 👍🏻

I just broke my 5-day fast with a cup of bone broth. What a long week that was, but got to do a lot of Visual Studio extension works, so it's all good

@Roku why would the default cursor location be the list of housekeeping items on the left??? It should default to the installed apps on the right, perhaps even the most recently launched. I spend so much time clicking right just to go to where I was the day before. #UXDesign

@JenMsft Btw, I was able to entirely disable the windows context menu by disabling that action originating from the keyboard. Emoji-free at last. Thank you for responding to me.

Hey @JenMsft is there some way I can disable the Emoji option in the right-click context window? For some reason it keeps popping up and launching the emoji window while typing a business email (started about a month ago)

@davepl1968 Dave, is there any real harm using something like FilePilot? It is tiny and runs circles around File Explorer with a much better and flexible UI.

@JenMsft It is what pops up in the Outlook Web App when the windows right-click context menu pops up and the first option launches the emoji panel.

Is that little blue lock icon next to files in Solution Explorer useful for showing source control status?

@22yonking2 @VS_Debugger In 2026 I find myself completely unable (at times) to figure out how to close or move a toolbar out of my way... One that I didn't even open or ask for. This might be due to the prerelease nature of it.

@22yonking2 @VS_Debugger Agreed. I used VS for over 20 years but when Rider made the big improvements I switched. VS moving all the traffic off the UI thread was a massive step in the right direction. Rider feels BLAZING fast relative to VS. The customization In Rider is light years ahead of VS.

New to debugging? What’s stopping you from exploring tools like conditional breakpoints, data visualizers, and call stacks? Is it the learning curve, lack of time, or just hard to find? What would make you give them a try? 👇
