this is huge coming from a political leader like stalin. i'm genuinely surprised that he's not taking the usual route of becoming overly emotional on camera and turning the moment into public mourning, but instead going back to the ground to collect real feedback so he can return stronger. i think we're going to see a lot more of this in the political tech landscape. leaders will become increasingly data-driven and use ai more deeply to understand people, shape narratives, and strengthen their campaigns.

It means that from 2000 to 2015, the focus was largely on fixing the supply side of electricity: increasing generation capacity, building transmission networks, expanding the grid, and reforming the electricity sector itself. From 2015 onwards, the focus shifted toward the demand side: actually connecting households, solving last-mile delivery, and ensuring electricity reached individual homes rather than just villages. You can almost see an accelerated growth curve during the demand-side phase. The interesting question is: why did the supply side take so long? The answer might be that the supply-side infrastructure is extremely capital-intensive and sequential. You cannot electrify homes at scale unless generation exists first, transmission lines are built, substations are operational, and the grid becomes stable enough to support millions of additional users. In many ways, the post-2015 acceleration was possible only because the foundational infrastructure work from the previous 15 years had already been completed.

yesterday, i met an entrepreneur with good credentials (ex-apollo, springleaf, etc.) who wanted to jam about a product idea he'd been exploring. in the meeting, it became clear that he wanted to spend a lot of time thinking about this space before even thinking about execution. he doesn't know how to use vibe-coding platforms, but he built a prototype in freaking excel — sample UI, buttons and it's just crazy amount of work. this is one of the most consistent patterns i've seen with good product people and entrepreneurs: they spend a lot of time refining the idea before they ever go to their engineering or design teams for execution. of course they talk to execution teams early to understand what's possible and what's not, but not for any groundbreaking product direction. this skill is going to be tremendously valuable in the ai era: the ability to bulletproof ideas before going to execution. otherwise, you end up building a low-resolution product that might solve a problem or two, but can't support deep vertical integration.

India is the largest youtube market in the world by user count and has the highest mobile data consumption per smartphone user globally. Most of that consumption is video, short-form especially. But the production layer for indian brands has barely moved. A typical D2C brand still pays ₹2-5L / ad film to an agency or production house. Mid-market brands shoot maybe 4-6 ad films a year. Most AI "creative" discourse right now is very US-centric, but the demand-supply mismatch is way sharper here - and why I think we might be the best market for director-level creative AI to land. Most AI video tools today are just editor-level - they help you cut, color, subtitle, resize. They're useful, but that's work freelance editors already do cheaply & quickly. Director-level AI should be able to take a brief and produce a finished output - including script, voice, visuals, pacing, all of it. What an indian D2C brand actually needs is an AI that can produce a 30 sec ad with regional voiceover, a face that feels real, and a tone that's brand-safe enough to run on instagram or youtube (runway and sora can't produce this yet). That's a very specific problem, and India might be the only market where it's both urgent and large enough to build a standalone company around.

one of the qualities i admire most in my co-founder @sampatil1010: he consistently puts himself in uncomfortable situations to grow. samir is one of the best engineers i know. there is nothing i believe he cannot build, and build well. lately, he has been learning sales. at a recent public event, everyone was asked to introduce themselves. i've done this hundreds of times and moved past the awkward phase. samir is just starting. but he showed up anyway. spoke in front of the room. talked to customers he didn't know. later called salespeople just to learn from them. i believe the success of a company depends on the compounding rate of its founders. he does it every single day. to win.

biggest learning about ai video generation models and workflow came to us when we started building videos and films ourselves we were deeply in the loop, understanding every piece of customer feedback, every little nuance, and every model limitation ai-enabled creative tooling is as much technical as it is creative

i have been thinking about moat in building an ai company, and three independent insights from three different people make a lot of sense when put together: 1/ friend 1: it is very difficult to unlock value and sustain it for long if the tech underneath is very volatile and the ground is constantly shifting. 2/ friend 2: ask yourself, are you happy or sad when the model underneath gets better? the answer shows whether you are doing the right things or not. 3/ andrej: for founders, one important opportunity is to find domains that are valuable, verifiable, and undertrained by frontier labs. build in domains where model outputs need continuous grounding, verification, and feedback loops that only your system accumulates over time.
