@Telegraph pPlease update your articles talking about missed ACWY vaccines being cause of outbreaks? This outbreak is highly likely to be Men B. There is a vaccine for this but it was only introduced into the immunisation schedule in 2015 meaning no teens have had it unless paid for.

@SWally1119586 @SkyNews The meningitis B vaccine. Only babies / toddlers from 2015 received it. You can pay privately for it. Men B is the deadliest strain of meningitis

@GBNEWS Stop focusing on lack of vaccine uptake! I’m pretty sure this will be found to be men b which wasn’t included in childhood immunisation plan until 2015 so those currently at uni would not have had that vaccine unless their parents paid privately

@EarthDetect @GBNEWS Because it only t he’s hold (as do many infections) when immune system is weakened - students being vulnerable due to lots of viruses flying around due to living in close quarters and also lack of sleep, high alcohol consumption, not eating well etc

@GBNEWS If there are so many carriers why do we not see more outbreaks. What is it that causes people to suddenly become succeptible?

@PolitlcsUK Do you think universities should increase health screenings after outbreaks like the meningitis cases at the University of Kent?

The tragic death of two university students in Kent shows the seriousness of meningitis. All young people should ensure they are up to date with their vaccines including MenACWY. Awareness of the symptoms of meningitis and prompt treatment are also essential to improve outcomes.

@DatGundamXD @UniKent If it’s B hardly any would have had the jab as it was given as standard until 2015. Sk anyone in this age group would not have had unless they pays privately

We are deeply saddened to confirm that one student from the University of Kent has died following a case of invasive meningitis. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends and the wider university community at this extremely difficult time. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We are working closely with public health teams and are in touch with staff and students to ensure they get the advice and support they need. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep our community informed at blogs.kent.ac.uk/student-news/2…

@MissStixy @PolitlcsUK @Pakistanisgo That was my first thought too most British kids would have been jabbed in school, I remember getting my meningitis jab way back when was the first vaccine I remember year 3 or 4.

@blonschki @PolitlcsUK @Pakistanisgo Wherever it came from, it's not the classic meningitis but a rare form of invasive meningitis, bacterial, that spreads within the body fast & is difficult to treat if left too long. Within a student population, it will have serious consequences.

@Telegraph your article is incorrect. The man whi got injured behind the tree and then walked away and collapsed was not the hero who disarmed the attacker but was the other man who threw an object at the attacker

@the_t_set @LatitudeFest We’ve taken 5 hours to get from near Needham Market. Haven’t even reached Blythburgh yet!!! @LatitudeFest . We’re locals and it’s still awful - worst ever traffic! We left at midday!!

It’s hard to recommend @LatitudeFest to folks with young kids when it’s takes hours to navigate the local traffic to even get onsite. Joined a local queue two and half hours ago and still a way away.

@BBCBreakfast please think a little about what you’re broadcasting at breakfast time. I almost vomited my breakfast this morning. I don’t want to be hearing about how someone needs to extricate their own faeces due to Mr Lamah’s incompetence. That should have come with a warning!

@marksandspencer Thanks, it has been requested by store staff who have been told absolutely not, you’d easily sell out at our store. I’m not doing a 1 hour round trip (nearest store to stock it).

@marksandspencer why are you not supplying your famous strawberry & cream sandwich to all stores? We have a m large store with a small but busy food section, they have been inundated with requests for it but you are refusing to stock it there. Please rectify - Bishop’s Stortford
