@ShineDome
The meeting place for Australia's top scientists and a Canberra icon, the Shine Dome is a city venue with style. Open for event bookings year round.

Starting tonight’s celebration of science in Canberra @Science_Academy @ShineDome hearing about physics and Sir Mark Oliphant (on what would have been his birthday) from Professor Mahnanda Dasgupta FAA #JourneyScience

"My father realised that I had an interest in science," recalls Distinguished Professor Arthur Georges FAA (@UniCanberra). "He was a politician and he brought me to Canberra quite often and one year, he took me across to show me the Shine Dome." Arthur, now a world-leading ecologist and herpetologist, is set to return to the Dome next month to be inducted into the Academy at #ShineDome24. "[My father] explained that it was the centre of academic life for scientists. As is anyone who sees it for the first time, I was really impressed. But back then in 1968, it was really out of the ordinary. That memory stayed with me forever." Arthur will be inducted into the Academy today along with 21 other new Fellows as part of our four-day annual event, Science at the Shine Dome. 🎥 Watch: bit.ly/SATS24 📷 Photo taken by Arthur when he first visited the @ShineDome in 1968.
