@glcst embedable language , used as a general purpose language, which usually mean you wont choose it if an sdk or a lib have api or wrappers, in the general purpose language of your choice, why would you choose lua?

what do you all think about Lua ? (the language).

@DanielW_Kiwi well calling it "web" rendering engine, make sound worst than it is you can call it layout engine, yes it uses web technology, but still works locally, nothing travels through the web, a web service is not required so it uses web technologies not web services so not that bad

Can someone explain why a desktop app needs a web rendering engine?

I'm beginning to suspect that Agile was just a reaction against Software Engineering, created by people who lacked the discipline to read and write specs. "Waterfall" - ie strict sequential development phases - was a complete straw man; it had been diagnosed and solved by 1970.

@xah_lee i never used babashka, so cant give a serious opinion, but it promote itself as a shell/scripting tool so just worth checking out i like clojure i think its gold, so definitely one day will try babashka

@xah_lee i like powershell i do agree it can get complex if you really want to master it & learn how it works but luckily for most uses you dont need it this level of knowledge i wish linux had wider adoption of an object oriented (i.e. piping objects not text) but that will never happen

full tutorial on powershell, plus in-depth understand on writing powershell script. i regret that i learned powershell. extremely complex. more complex than the already badly designed python fuck. (bash is not better. between bash and unix fucks, i'd go with powershell. unix stuff is a magnitude worse designed than python. including, C. ) better, is, just use python, or fsharp. for scripting tasks on your home computer. learn powershell only if you are really heavy in windows admin, like professionally. that's when it is necessary.

@aarondfrancis There is one. I love ClojureScript, and I use it where possible. If not possible, I will use what I already know - JavaScript. I don't want to invest time into learning TypeScript, when I have no intention of using it. I'd rather get better at Cljs, or learn PureScript, or Elm.

I think that, in the year of Our Lord 2026, there is no reason to pick JavaScript over TypeScript for your frontend.
