Storytelling is not confined to a single technology or form of communication. Throughout the entirety of human existence, storytelling has evolved significantly. It began with simple grunts and gestures, progressed to drawings on cave walls, and then developed into oral traditions and tales shared around a fire. As societies advanced, storytelling took on new forms, such as dancing by tribal men and women, singing, and writing on clay tablets, copper scrolls, and papyrus. Over time, it expanded to include statues, books, and paintings, as well as performances in auditoriums and on stages, encompassing plays and scripts. The advent of photography and cinema further transformed storytelling, leading to the creation of computer-generated imagery with 3D puppets and virtual environments. This evolution continued with procedural generation and particle effects, and now we have generative models. It is absurd to assume that no new forms of storytelling can be created today or will exist in the future. The key is to execute these new forms well. Production planning remains unchanged, and the need for the best talent you can afford is as crucial as ever. By actually reducing set costs, you can afford to pay more to aspiring actors, artists, writers, and post-production crew, ensuring the quality and success of your storytelling endeavours. #cgi #ai #film #animation

Everyone is focusing, quite correctly, on how this dumb, unelected bureaucrat is trying to block Apple from building products with users’ privacy in mind. But I want to focus on something else: the factual error he makes in this video when he says Siri AI is powered by Google. That is, of course, wrong. Apple was quite explicit that the models were distilled from Gemini, but they are Apple’s own models. So I’m not even sure how this guy can be taken seriously on this issue if he can’t even get the basic facts right.

Apple decided not to roll out SIRI AI in the EU. The non-interoperability of their design made the update not suitable for the EU market. Why? Because big tech companies cannot decide which EU tool should be used by EU citizens. Learn more👇 📺youtube.com/shorts/ATg_W0N…

It’s a temporary glitch because they overengineered the safety protocols due to all the fear mongering and regulatory fears. No need to make conspiracy theories when the basic truth is right in front of us every day. There are also dozens of AI models and many of them run locally and can fetch info from the web.

The scary part about Anthorpic's Fable nerf is not that it refuses to answer biology or cryptography. It's that it foreshadows what's coming. A world where a couple companies decide what you can and cannot do. They're building a new ruling class and you're not in it...

@TheBobPony HomePod isn’t doing on-device models. The other products in the current line up are doing a mix of on-device models and cloud models depending on how much memory they have and battery limitations.

There used to be a dozen different smartphone operating systems (PalmOS, Blackberry, Symbian, etc) and the field was such an incompatible mess that most OEMs dropped those operating systems for Android. Nobody forced them to do it. They saw what Apple achieved and they listened to customer complaints. So they gave customers a system they could all understand. That is called ‘standardisation’. The EU is simply out of touch with customers and try to impose insecure standards on top working standards. That’s why they scare away innovation. It’s a long pattern of autocratic incompetency, corruption and roadblocks. They do these things for bribes ans to distract the population from all the economic harm they do.

I buy a videogame console I am stuck with their stores. I buy a car I am stuck with their system. I buy a TV I am stuck with their OS. What are you doing to change that? Apply the DMA everywhere otherwise this just seems a personal pet peeve against apple.

DMA is fundamentally flawed. Applying these standards only to specific companies highlights its absurdity and contradiction. By the same logic, if Sony or Nintendo were forced to allow third party game stores, their business models would be completely ruined.

The EU rejects Apple’s blame for the delayed rollout of its AI-enhanced voice assistant, saying it was up to the US tech giant to make products that follow the rules. “The decision not to roll out Siri AI in the EU is Apple’s and Apple’s only,” says spokesperson Thomas Regnier.

#WWDC

@codevsdev There were always docs. Some computers even came with a BASIC manual. Magazines had code samples and we had to copy them line by line.

The EU basically says that Apple has no right to "lock" users into their own ecosystems... and says that interoperability is mandatory and that Apple must provide effective, free access for third-party developers and services to integrate deeply and equally with iOS/iPadOS capabilities, so users can choose alternatives rather than being limited to Siri (no matter what security risks this entire process brings to the Apple ecosystem). What they are failing (spectacularly) to understand is that the reality is exactly the opposite: The Apple users were the ones choosing Apple for this very reason! They choose a closed system, freely, to avoid risks from third-party integrations! What Europe sees as an anti-competitive measure is actually a consumer choice!!! THIS IS WHAT THE USERS WANT! But hey, Thomas Regnier knows better than the users. The users are a bunch of stupid MFs that don't actually know what they want. They need Thomas Regnier and the European Commission telling them what's best for them... LOL This guy - who is a spokesperson for the European Commission in Brussels and an unelected civil servant - is basically implying to speak on behalf of 450+ million Europeans and in his delusion thinks he knows better than everyone else. Well, he (and the European Commission) should wake the fuck up! P.S. If Apple were actually making such "bad" choices, the users would be the ones deciding on their own and, if necessary, they would punish them by not purchasing their products and services. The market always corrects itself and doesn't need overregulation! But since their user base has been continuously growing over the last decade, I think... I think they might be on to something. Perhaps the users, in their craziness, might actually like what Apple is doing!

There were worker’s rights movements for centuries going back to the pyramids. The Chartists were around in the early 19th century. Marxists like to believe they invented worker’s rights and holidays and weekends. They didn’t. They just worship this guy who starved his own family.

Here are four things every serious anti-communist should understand about Marxism: First, Marxism is not primarily a set of economic policies. It is a complete philosophical system built on the claim that private property and markets are the root causes of human oppression and alienation. This is why communist regimes did not simply make economic mistakes - they systematically tried to abolish the foundations of voluntary cooperation. Second, Marxism focuses heavily on social structures and class forces while leaving very little room for individual choice and moral responsibility. Individuals are treated largely as products of their class position rather than as autonomous agents capable of shaping their own lives. This deterministic outlook underpins both Marxism’s repeated predictive failures and its readiness to justify coercive social engineering. Third, the authoritarianism, terror, and centralised control seen in every communist state were not distortions of Marxism. They were logical consequences of attempting to impose a total transformation of society (and Mark understood that). Once private property and markets are rejected, coercive state power becomes necessary to enforce the new order. Fourth, Marxism has never died. It has mutated. Much of today’s identity politics, critical theory, and institutional “equity” activism draws directly from Marxist frameworks - simply replacing economic class with race, gender or other identity categories while retaining the same oppressor-versus-oppressed logic.
