Fell down the rabbit hole on a charter school network called Alpha School. The premise? Two hours of traditional school daily, all delivered via AI apps. The rest of the day is spent on self-directed projects around life skills or areas of interest. It seems to be working?

@thesamparr Hey Sam, I built this for myself on top of Claude API with custom UI (my angle: 80-year old me coaching myself through life) had to deal with compressing info in the “brain” and gets expensive happy to deploy / expose it to you if interested

Ai people. Tell me how'd you solve this: - I often use ChatGPT has a exec coach slash thought part - It's spent loads of time asking me questions about myself, my goals, my strengths, weaknesses, business financials. - I come to it for advice - I've given it books to read and asked "how would this author approach this problem." - Even things like "what should the focus be this week to hit my goals"? I just use the same prompt window in ChatGPT. This is less than ideal because the context window prolly isn't long and its forgetting stuff. Plus if this prompt thread goes away, hours of training it is now lost. What's a good way to solve this? Have something built with Longchain, like a database of all my past convos? Is this tech even possible yet? My goal is to have a thought partner basically. Someone who knows me well, is smart, and gives advice.

One thing I wish I realized earlier: There is no right way to build a company. For most people, you're better off structuring your company in a way that makes you want to work on it for a long time. The company is there to serve founders. Not the other way around.

@kanekallaway It’ll be relatively equal long term imo But with content taking the short term lead since brand is harder to automate since it requires taste + tools Brand = personality driven = digital real estate Utility = product

Funny debate happening… All builders think AI will make getting distribution via content super easy (one button -> generate content -> print). All content people think AI will make building products super easy (few prompts -> working product -> print). Both are likely and both will happen to some degree. So which will be more valuable in the future (and which should you focus on now?) My take is that products will become easier for “non-product people” to make than content will become for non-content people to make. Content is already flooded with noise. Cream rises, some noise works, most doesn’t. I believe humans will always want the best stories. Storytelling will be productized to some extent, but there will always be some craft. If there isn’t, many humans will revolt and demand social platforms create a “humans-only” feed which will be akin to the “buy local” movement. So in my head, there will always be a way to win with human-led content if you’re great at it. On the product side, there is zero mandate that these are “built by humans” Taste will still matter for design, but this feels much more cloneable. I’m already watching people build solid looking products with zero design experience. I’d expect to see tens of thousands of beautifully made, fully functional products that solve the same problem, but with zero access to distribution. If the question is, “which is more valuable in the future…” I think it’s distribution. I share this because being someone that knows distribution well, but feeling the heavy fomo pull to go back to product and start becoming a cursor/replit maxi, it’s taking everything in me to stay tripled down on the content side. This is a peek into my logic for how I’m thinking about it. Someone tear this apart.

If you don't set your podcast's brand identity, someone else will define it for you. If you don't direct your viewers to actionable outcomes, someone else will capture their attention. If you don't commit to consistency, someone else will fill the void you leave.

Announcing the Operators Only Podcast An experiment I'm running with @ramshe1000 where we talk to startup operators who built iconic startups and/or are building the next breakout companies. First episode is with @GoPreezy, the COO at @beehiiv. - Preeya joined Beehiiv as employee #7 and @denk_tweets's chief of staff. - In case you live under a rock, Beehiiv's one of the fastest growing companies in tech right now. Impossible to be on Twitter and not hear about them. - She's played a big role in their success. - Excited for more folks to get to know her story and see some of the behind the scenes of how they're building Beehiiv. - We talked about her journey prior to Beehiiv, how she met Tyler, why/when founders should hire a chief of staff (including why my tweet saying the opposite is wrong), acquihires, and more. Give the show a listen on Youtube, Spotify, and wherever you listen to podcasts. (link further in the thread) ----- A couple notes on why I wanted to do this: - I've long felt that startup operators are some of the most unsung heroes in tech. - We constantly hear the same stories from the same founders (especially CEOs) and VCs involved in successful companies. - Much less common to hear from the early employees that made big but less appreciated contributions to making these companies successful. - These folks are the unsung heroes of the startup world. We think their stories should be told more often. - Lastly, I think we need spaces for more nuanced conversations with builders in startups. Too much fluff and surface level narrative in most tech media. Not enough depth about the craft of the game itself. Transparently, I don't think we've yet created the perfect representation of what I want to exist. But I think we've made a good start and will iterate from here. --- This is very much a WIP. And we're new to podcasting. Figuring out the format as we go. Any feedback on how we can make the show better, questions to ask, guests to have on, etc.... is welcome. 🙏

Okay I'm at a loss on this one. Whenever I open the Uber app, my music gets quieter, and I can't fix it until I close the fucking app. Idk if this happened because of the autoplaying ads or the iOS 18 beta but I will legit switch to Lyft if I can't fix it today.
