@sabeer The new feudalism is just self-declared intellectuals insisting the common man should subsidise their gin and tonics.

There seems to be a growing backlash against elitism across the nation. But much of it is misdirected. Education is not elitism. Intellectual discourse is not elitism. Critical thinking is not elitism. Elitism is the belief that some people matter more than others. Education and open debate are what help societies progress. We should be fighting arrogance, not knowledge.

They should pay market rent. Yes, why not. So why has the Modi government not increase the rent in last 12 years? Where is that communication/circular from govt seeking market rent? Why straight up eviction? Is it that some of his crony friends were waiting in line for the club membership but didn't get it so they threw a temper tantrum ke Modi my friend, NDTV khareed liya ab mujhe gymkhana bhi dilwado. Gymkhana wale ghus ne nahi de rahe.

Why should the President live in a palace? Why should PM live in a palace? Why can't they live in a government quarter? Why should Ministers live in luxuries? Actually, why should we have capitalism? Let's abolish private property, take the wealth of 1% of Indians and distribute it among the people. Start with Adani and Ambani. Take over Antilla and relocate the slum dwellers there. Want to end elitism? Then let's be communists. No private property, govt to own everything and everybody gets a fixed ration and work the fields and factories.

OLD MEN HAVING GIN AND TONIC AT DELHI GYMKHANA CLUB IS A NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT. BUT A RS 20000 Crore BCCI IS A “ CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION”. Hypocrisy reigns in our country. The same yardsticks need to apply to all. This government is cherry picking who to target, and who to turn a blind eye too. It’s brutal power grab. #NoTelePrompter #DelhiGymkhanaClub #BCCI

Christianity is not insecure about ethnicity. A person can be a ethnic Kannadiga and Christian. Why is Hinduism insecure about ethnicity ? A person can be a ethnic Kannadiga and Hindu. Why deny the ethnicity of an Indian ? Entire world respects the concept of ethnicity.

We have reached a stage where being a bhakt now is extremely dangerous, I mean bhakts can defend anything the government says and does. What the fk happened to your brains? Why can't you see the way they have ruined this country? It's like the rest of us that question the government are just fire fighting comstantly because no one cares at all about the students, the women, the minorities, the animals. It's exhausting and so stressful because even a kid can tell you what's wrong and right in 12 years. When someone tells us that our press freedom is gone, we become defensive. Aise kaise bola humme? Kyun godi media channels nahi dekh rahe ho itne saal se? The world knows the truth. No one outside India is doing our mahamanav's charan vandana like the press here and his followers in India and abroad. What they have successfully done is branded you, their voter base. The fool, the clown that will jump around defending them for all their mistakes. They've made you stop thinking, stop questioning because hey Motiji ne kara hai toh sochkar hi kara hoga. They made you feel false pride in being a true nationalist for choosing them and supporting them. But they forgot to teach you patriotism sadly, because the highest form of patriotism is to question injustice, uphold democratic practices, the constitution, the law of the land, sovereignty of the state and it's institutions, press freedom, free speech and question the government at every step. Countries that are progressing and where citizens live a good life, good infrastructure and resources, have better per capita income, the press and the citizens now and not in some distant future, question the government on absolutely everything. The government is supposed to work for us, not be worshipped by us. We are being taxed like Singapore, especially the middle class and look at the state of the country and our economy. This is not just a failure of the government but also a failure of citizens. Because of you bhakts, the whole country is suffering.

@sabeer The fact that your country has a strict border control is tribalism…

India’s number one problem is tribalism. People identify with their religion, caste, language, region, or political tribe before identifying with the country. It may provide a sense of security, but it fractures society. The public discourse reflects this. We constantly hear: “Hindus did this,” “Muslims did that,” “Tamil Nadu is like this,” “North Indians are like that.” What if we spoke as individuals instead? “I believe this.” “He disagrees.” “She argues that.” The moment we stop speaking for entire groups and start speaking for ourselves, the quality of debate rises. Otherwise, we remain trapped in an endless cycle of “us vs them” and low-IQ tribal politics.

India should be able to appreciate every chapter of its history without feeling threatened by it. The Mughals left behind magnificent architecture, art, cuisine, language, and culture. The British left institutions, infrastructure, and the English language—which opened doors for millions, including me. I would not have achieved what I have without mastering English. A mature civilization acknowledges both the achievements and the mistakes of its past. Yet today, too much energy is spent hating what came before us instead of building on it. We should be grateful to the generations that laid the foundations we inherited, learn from history, and focus our attention on creating a better future. The future is full of opportunity. Let’s embrace it rather than remain trapped in endless battles over the past.

How long are we Indians going to live with false pride? many things keeping us behind are protected in the name of 'culture', 'tradition', n 'values'.. when in reality they are hollow inside and maintained only for social image. We are socially pressured to keep repeating that our culture is great, even when most of it are clearly outdated, regressive, hypocritical or damaging. A society grows when it learns to question itself, not when it keeps glorifying itself. #india #culture #falsepride

I am not a Congressi.... but you cannot ignore that Congress leaders gave their lives for this country.. BJP, on the other hand, has largely focused on a Brahminical style of vedic supremacy, cultural dominance and religious divide...! So, if it has to be one of the 2, I would always choose Congress!

₹35 lakh crore in 2014. ₹172 lakh crore in 2026. A near 5X jump in India’s debt. And yet silence everywhere. No outrage, no accountability, no tough questions. Why is no one talking about this financial disaster being pushed onto future generations?

Institutions such as the Delhi Gymkhana Club, the Bangalore Club, and the Bowring Institute are part of India’s living heritage. For decades, they have been spaces where ideas were exchanged, relationships were built, and intellectual conversations flourished across generations. Rather than creating hundreds more such institutions, it seems shortsighted to dismantle existing ones in the name of national security. A confident nation preserves and expands its institutions; it does not diminish them.

India needs a Common Civility Code for public spaces.
Miss Money Penny@CleansedTweets

There's is Indian uproar on X over Thailand reducing the tourist visa stay for #Indians from 60 days to just 15 days. But calling Thais racist is neither fair nor true. Why this happened 👇 - Extremely loud (beyond a joke loud) - Lack of personal space, pushing - Treating hotel staff like servants - Hygiene issues in shared spaces - Lack of cultural adaptation - Inappropriate behaviour towards women 👀 - Pack (group mentality) Massive groups of men - Littering (dropping trash) - Stealing hotel amenities - Urinating on beaches - Indian prostitutes now seen in Bangkok/Pattaya - Disregard for queues / lines - Lack of deodorant usage (sorry but its true) - Working illegally. This is evident in most tourist hotspots. - Generally rude - Tight, the perception is Indians don't spend money All of these issues above have spiraled to a point now where other nationalities are avoiding certain Thai tourist towns and resorts that are heavily dominated by Indians tourists. Sort it out guys. Its pretty bad out there. Nothing to do with racism. Even Expats Indians in Bangkok having been having this conversation for over two years now and they all agree, by and large the behaviour of many Indian tourists is extremely poor. #India #IndianTourists

I watch with surprise as many liberal YouTubers and media in India raise urgent alarm over Cockroach Janata Party's X/Twitter account being withheld, social media accounts being hacked, online death threats, and accusations of being labeled threats to national security. These are serious concerns, and rightly so. But I cannot help noticing the striking silence when it comes to my own case. For three years, two of my X/Twitter accounts have been withheld in India, yet not one of these prominent voices has asked why. No one has shown any curiosity about why the Modi regime canceled my OCI twice and effectively barred my entry into India for six years, despite two Delhi High Court rulings in my favor. None have questioned why the Modi regime has formally stated before the court that I am a threat to India’s security, unity, and integrity. Nor have they spoken about the death threats I have endured from regime supporters for at least a decade. My concern is not that others are receiving attention, it is that principles seem to become selective depending on who the target is. If freedom of expression, democratic rights, and protection from intimidation truly matter, then they should matter consistently, not only when the victim fits a preferred agenda.
