This guy taught me “box breathing” a couple weeks ago at DEFCON. He wasn’t showing off. He wasn’t trying to impress me (or anyone else!) He was just trying to help a friend. He saw me struggling with something, and he decided he was going to help. Unicorn the planet.

@sheyor_exe Agree here 100%. Would add, orgs who constantly change their security tech stack put their teams on the fast train to burnout as well.

Building an effective cyber security program requires tripartite formation comprising People, Processes and Technology...Technology without effective processes and people leads to inefficiency & burnout. People and processes without adequate tooling will lead to frustration...

@curtw @FrankMcG Solid take here. True - security teams enforce acceptable use policies that can be completely obtuse to human rights. Never considered that showing up to work can be viewed as tacit acceptance of my employer’s culture.

@FrankMcG Thank you for sharing your experience. Human rights are critical, and yet many are now and will be increasingly tossed under the bus as scapegoats. The security industry will be expected to assist with this effort and then we will see where people really stand.

Everyone is now coming out of the woodwork telling on themselves since the election results. They feel completely validated and emboldened. Complete with their full name and validity of working in cybersecurity. You work around these people. Just post about DEI to find them.

@MalwareJake I spent 2 yrs as a mentor for a cybersecurity bootcamp & saw firsthand how their grads struggled to land their first entry level job in the field. Greedy companies selling false hope.

Can we PLEASE stop with the "there's 750,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs in the US?" I don't care what the "official" numbers are because it's certainly not reflective of the job market.
