360 drones are quite remarkable for 3D scanning Some initial thoughts: - speed: Holy fing hell, you can scan areas soooo quickly. A statue is captured in a few minutes, and whole building in 5, and multiple building blocks in 10! - perspective: 360 let’s you get as close as you’d like to your subject without worrying about having too narrow of a FOV for image alignment to work out. You can fly WITHIN the street you’d like to capture rather than above - confidence: omnidirectional obst avoidance + the fact that I’m capturing in every direction meant that I could fly the camera through areas that I wouldn’t have with a typical mavic - GSD trade off: the GSD resolution (pixel/cm) is definitely much lower than any non-360 drone. To mitigate, either you can fly closer to the subject, or shoot additional images with a non-360 drone - no flight planning: currently, scanning is all manual and with no repeatability. Hopefully DJI releases an SDK soon

Today I saw a 3DGS which has been created by Insta 360 Antigravity A1 and X5 from sky and ground. That was an amazing result😍. I believe the combination AVATA360 and OSMO360 definitely produces quite good results as well. Let's take with dual 360 cameras😀.

I overworked myself. For the past 5 years, I barely took a day off. I shipped 30 startups, wrote 30,000 tweets, made 70 YouTube videos, and answered thousands of support requests. The weird part is, it never felt like work. It felt like play. Until recently. For the first time in years, I’ve struggled to get things done. I don’t want to open my laptop. The things that used to make me happy suddenly feel heavy. That scares me a bit, because the playful side of work is what got me here. And right now, it feels like I lost it. So I’m taking a break. I’ll still do about an hour of maintenance work a day, but the rest of my time will go to real life. I’m training for Hyrox in Korea on May 25, so I’ll put my energy there for now and train 20 hours a week. I went through a little burnout once before, in 2021. What helped me was going back to basics: training, reading, eating well, and sleeping 8 hours. It brought the hunger back then. I trust it will again!

@KIRI_Engine_App Thanks! I've done interior splats on a Samsung S23 device using video. They're good but not as good as this one. Maybe I should experiment with photos or just upgrade my phone to reach higher lvl of detail?

@sidef1ip Both🙂 Photos or video both work for 3D Gaussian Splatting, video is usually just easier.

I 3D scanned my grandparents 📷 We take photos all the time, but this feels… different🤔 Like keeping a moment you can come back to.
