@TheFrizz87 Bob Knepper - Two of his best seasons came as an @astros in postseason years. He was 9-5, 2.18 in the strike shortened season of 1981 & was 17-12, 3.14 in ‘86. 2x AS (1981. & ‘88) with Houston. ⚾️ #SFGiants

Who is your personal favorite Houston Astros LEFT-handed starting pitcher? Not an easy call for me but I'll take Mike Hampton. His first stint of 2 he had an ERA under 4 each year and finished 2nd in Cy Young in 1999.

@VanderlansJim 1978 was a very good year for the @SFGiants. The team was in contention till the end. They broke a string of 4 straight sub .500 seasons with a 89-73 record. The Giants had a solid staff headed by veteran Vida Blue (18-10, 2.79) & 3rd year lefty Bob Knepper (17-11, 2.63). ⚾️🌉

May 14, 1978 - Jack Clark goes 2 for 4 which includes a solo-HR and he drives in 2 runs, and Terry Whitfield's only hit of the day is a game-winning solo-HR in the 12th inning, to give the #SFGiants a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals at Candlestick Park. #MLB #OTD #1970s #Topps

Low and outside@low_and_outside·
The answer: The reliable lefty Bob Knepper, who rarely missed a start from 1976 through 1989, throwing 78 complete games, 30 shut-outs, and averaging nearly 23 decisions per year. MLB lifetime 3.68 ERA, 146-156 record. ⚾️
Low and outside@low_and_outside

1985 Astros again: Mike Scott was the pitching ace, going 18-8 in 35 starts, with two shut-outs and a 3.29 ERA to lead the team. Nolan Ryan was 10-12, 3.80, 35 starts. Who was in the middle with a 15-13 record, 3.55 ERA, in his 37 starts? ⚾️

I’m going through some old stuff today and found this: In 1982, I wrote to Johnnie LeMaster for an autographed photo. He chose an interesting place to sign his name.

Brandon Crawford has had five ground balls hit his way through three innings and converted them all into outs. #SFGiants' single-game assist record? 12, by Johnnie LeMaster, 4/29/1983.

Hey ! Johnnie LeMaster❗️ 🖤⚾️🧡 @SFGiants @MLB #Expos @SonsofJohnnieLe Fun Fact : Fans in San Francisco often welcomed LeMaster into a game with a chorus of boos...
In 1979, LeMaster had his own laugh. He took the field in the jersey you see here.

I like Carlos Rodon, but his assertion that Giants fans are inferior because they don't boo their own players is odd. I think Johnnie LeMaster would like a word here.
