Why did I leave Microsoft? To work full time on 🔥 Maester. Over 40,000+ tenants today rely on Maester to monitor their tenants daily. I wanted to make sure that the tests they are running continue to be relevant and evolve as Microsoft 365 and the security landscape evolves. So today I'm announcing the launch of Maester.Cloud Maester Cloud is the portal companion to Maester that lets you track your results over time. It is multi tenant, runs in your cloud (or ours) and more → check out the site for all the features. More importantly Maester Cloud is a way for me to fund the continued development of the open source Maester core and the tests in Maester. That is our mission. Omg merril, the last time: provided multiple har files from managed, unmanaged, uaers, admins, it was so ridiculous. They never solved the problem. They dont even know what to do with that information. Its all copilot answers now. If Im opening a ticket, I have already done all these things. They waste my time having to explain it 100 times to various people and they rarely have the skills to understand our environment.

I'm about to open 2 Microsoft tickets this morning. God help me and protect me from developing alcoholism.

@IAMERICAbooted About pdf the point is that industry wide the standard is out of control. Microsoft solution, we suport only pdfs created with office or Adobe....😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂. At the size of Ms and Adobe this is just not professional. About IRM, I meant insider risk management - 😁

With pdfs its because it depends on the rendering client as well as the non-microsoft systems they are rendered from. Purview does have ocr capabilities for that. Agree with RMS Encryption points and the challenges with that. IRM depends on which one youre talking about. Sharepoint legacy IRM and RMS encryption have documented challenges.

In my opinion, the admin portals that take the most broad set of skills and experience go like this, in this order: Purview, Intune, Entra, Security Center, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, App Admin Center Purview sits at the inner most layer of the security onion and requires knowledge and experience with all the others + network + PKI + Federation + Azure + SaaS + AD + 3rd party cloud.

@IAMERICAbooted Pro tip: Design your DLP policies with business continuity in mind and prepare for exception management to be labor intensive. Prepare for DLP policy blocking entire mail flow or external sharing across all services, because it will happen.

@IAMERICAbooted There are days when Microsoft doesn't seem to have any idea how to approach data security. Some examples : There are 4 DSPM s. PDF is supported, but ~30% of the files are not recognized as pdfs. Endpoint DLP works better on MacOS, than on Windows.

@IAMERICAbooted IRM is one of the better solutions, fine tunnning is really work intensive. Still there so many bugs...or undocumented behaviors.

@IAMERICAbooted In the past 4 years I spent my time in Purview world with one of the most complex environment for data security, European mix of public institution and financial system. I can say the solution is stitched on top of exchange and ad rms with plenty of legacy code and systems.

People are acting like Microsoft robbed them. NO. Microsoft let us hammer Copilot Cowork for free since March. - Long-running tasks. - Multi-step work. - Emails. Docs. Meetings. Files. Context. Execution. Some of us were absolutely hammering it too. I was one of them. Now GA hits and suddenly everyone is shocked there’s a meter attached? Come on. The move now is simple: >stop wasting context >stop writing messy prompts >stop asking Cowork to do 9 vague jobs at once >start building proper SKILLS >start optimizing how work gets handed off Microsoft gave us the playground. ‼️🚨 Unauthenticated attackers are gaining SYSTEM on domain controllers with crafted packets. The vulnerability being exploited is CVE-2026-41089, a CVSS 9.8 hole in Windows Netlogon, and exploitation in the wild has been confirmed. A patch has existed since May 12. Every DC still behind is not just vulnerable, but according to the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium are also actively being pwnd.
