As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re using as an excuse. If they walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school. Spread the word.

Picking the kid up from school on the bike is a million times easier than trying to pull them in the toboggan. #VikingBiking #CargoBike #Barrie

@HowtoADHD I’m not sure if this is helpful, but I just learned that RLS can be a sign of iron deficiency; speak with your doctor about getting your ferritin levels checked if they haven’t already done so.

This is literally the only reason I’m going to be able to sleep tonight. ( I asked my doctor for a meds refill today, but when I went to pick up my meds the pharmacy had only received 2 of my 3 prescriptions. The third one was for a medication for my restless leg syndrome)

PSA: for non controlled medications, if you’ve run out of them & it will take time to get the doctor to send over a new prescription *ask the pharmacist if they can do a 72 hour emergency supply.* If it’s an established medication at your regular pharmacy, they might be able to

@shriharshb @ramit For YOUNG children, kindergarten age, there’s the Moneybunny series of books. There’s four: Earn It!, Spend It!, Save It!, Give It! You might need to add in some of Ramit’s brain jiu-jitsu, but a great way to begin having conversations about money.

@ramit @ramit , I am teaching my kids about investing and how money works. Is there a list of books for kids or tweens that you’d recommend to make the journey easier?

At Thanksgiving, my 10-year-old nephew told me he wants a $29,000 Rolex. I loved it! So I showed him how to invest so he could pay for it. It’s funny to think of a 10-year-old learning how to buy a Rolex, but this is also an example of how money knowledge is passed down among families. When I talk to couples on my podcast, I ask what they learned about money growing up. Usually I get answers like: “We can’t afford that” “We don’t talk about money in this family” Those phrases have lasting effects on kids. Then I get questions from parents: "How do I talk to my kids about money?" They're looking for a worksheet or magical phrase. The truth is: If you want to teach your kids about money, first YOU have to get good at it. You have to understand the numbers & your money psychology. If you want to know how financial knowledge is transmitted, the holidays present an amazing case study. Ask yourself these questions: 1. In the last 7 days, did you talk to your family about money? (Why/why not?) 2. If so, what was the tone? Was it a big SIGH, or EXCITEMENT, or ANXIETY? 3. What would you change? If a 10-year-old said they wanted to buy a Rolex, how would you respond? Would you tell them to be quiet? Would you laugh at them? Or would you say, Awesome! Do you know how to pay for it? Here, let me show you how you could do that. Your answer might determine your children's financial future.

I'm not even anti-car, I'm "use a bike or transit when you're able, don't use a car when you don't need to" and it's truly incredible how many drivers feel absolutely attacked by this post. #TOpoli #BikeTO

In the space it takes to park a typical car, you can park 9 typical bicycles. What do you think is the more efficient, scalable, and sustainable use of space? #TOpoli #BikeTO

@CanadaRobin @LdnOntBikeCafe @CurbsideCycle That India ink stain is gorgeous isn’t it? They’ve put quite a bit of love into their Babboe, and have been quite helpful when I had questions with mine. I’ve shared your post w/them.

I have never seen another cargo bike at Redway Loblaws, despite shopping there multiple times a week. Today I saw this gorgeous machine! Does anyone know the owner? 🫣😍🥹

Our housing system is broken, in part, because environmentally-friendly and accessible buildings are either banned outright or wrapped in so many counterproductive rules to make them economically unviable. Let's legalize these buildings that have so many benefits!

AAA has a helpful "cost of car ownership" calculator. An average used sedan with moderate mileage costs about $10k per year to own. (A new car is about $12k per year.) The average American household has at least two cars. If those cars were a couple of 2018 Camrys, that's $1,667 cost of ownership per month. Many people have driving-age kids and have 3 or 4 cars at home. At the same time, most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, a constant source of anxiety. Car dependency is a financial burden and a health burden, even if it's the unseen stress on a relationship caused by living paycheck to paycheck. Imagine the relief if a household was able to save $833 every month (AAA cost of ownership for 1 used sedan) by going from 4 cars to 3, or from 3 cars to 2. Walkable neighborhoods make these adjustments practical. Standard car-oriented neighborhoods prevent adjustments. Local planning depts are a power broker in public health, because land use regulations are what spread everything out into "I have to drive" distances.
