Only way for "old MTG" to be back is for UB sets to do absolutely bad and Hasbro's other projects pull their weight.
MTG's current state of UB is all due to Hasbro's TERRIBLE management.
They couldn't for the life of them leverage MTG as an IP. They don't know hownto push shit🙄

@Roll4Persuasion I didn’t think the surge in riftbound was due to UB hate since league is just another preexisting IP that doesn’t even particularly have a magic-y feel.
I thought it was mainly mechanical like set design and format design.

I'm playing devils advocate here. I think that Khan was a fine choice for Sheoldred, but they used the wrong version of Khan for the art, as well as awkward art for a card. I have taken the poster art for Wrath of Khan by Bob Peak, and new flavor text as a proof of concept.

Seems to work just fine for One Piece at our shop. We get more OP players in 4 months than we do mtg players the whole year. Pre release included

Lol, they released event history on the companion app and now players are finding they've been signed up for events without their knowledge by stores to inflate their numbers? There have been rumors about this for a while, but this seems like confirmation if I'm understanding it correctly.

@SaffronOlive LGS I go to that normally gets between 40-50 had 76 people Friday night, 68 people Saturday noon, and only had 16 kits left for 8 2HG teams Saturday night.
Went 1-2 with 5 color vivid on Friday (trash kit), 2-1 with Mardu blight Saturday, and 2-1 with jeskai merfolk & BG elves

What if rather than banning cards Magic worked like Battlegrounds and adjusted your starting life total based on the deck you are playing (like if you have Vivi in your deck you start at 15 life, for example)? I know it's probably not practical, but would it work?
