Please don't stop feeding birds right now. This is such an important time of the year with birds working hard to find food for the young. It is right to be concerned about potential diseases but you can reduce any risk by washing your feeders weekly and I wash out the bird bath daily. It takes a few minutes. 💚 If you see sick birds, of course, stop feeding birds immediately.

@EllenFWalker Peanuts was amazingly philosophical and melancholy. I didn't understand much of it as a child, but I certainly understood *some* of it and I think maybe that's what made me love that cartoon so much.

I can't believe I was banned from reading Snoopy in primary school because comics "aren't real books." This single strip has more emotional and intellectual complexity than all of the Harry Potter books put together.

@SketchesbyBoze That guy's not a reader. Real readers read where they can. I used to be one but sadly my brain is fried nowadays and I can no longer read the way I used to.

Most of life occurs in those ten-minute stretches where nothing seems to be happening. You’d be shocked at how much reading you can get done while you’re standing in line or riding the subway. There’s no such thing as “performative reading” when we are in a literacy crisis.

@MichelleJaspe11 @writethewrongs2 Yeah, that's another thing. We've finally had a bit of rain but the ground is still hard as a rock from the months of non rain. Where are the birds meant to find worms from if they can't dig into the soil? Not many insects about either. RSPB et al need to reconsider, fast.

@writethewrongs2 I didn't feed for 2 days ... the birds were literally attacking each other for tiny scraps ... there's a massive shortage of insects as well... I'm now feeding but more scatter feeding and small bowls dotted around which I was each evening also cleaning the baths every morning

@JasperManUtd @writethewrongs2 Even on the coldest days in winter, when the bird bath was frozen over solid, I've not seen activity at the bird feeders like I have these past 2-3 weeks.

@writethewrongs2 Agreed. Parents are working so hard that my feeders seem busier than in winter. They're important energy sources to sustain the parents while they hunt for bugs and caterpillars etc

@writethewrongs2 What does the RSPB think it's doing? I guarantee they will reverse this advice eventually when it turns out that - surprise surprise - there isn't enough natural food to be found in our severely nature-depleted country and bird populations plummet even further.

@fromarsetoelbow The Guardian has gone utterly crap. It's pushing the Jew solidarity angle hard, probably because it does not want any comeback about "aNtiSeMitiSm". The only ones who really need to be scared are the ones who upset Israel. (See e.g. Greta Thunberg).

Is this cartoon really about "showing solidarity", as the Guardian claims, or is it suggesting that every progressive cause right down to the NHS is suspect?

I don't think Polanski is up to the job. He's already fallen into the same trap that Corbyn did and is going to be destroyed and unelectable as a result. It is absolutely not a coincidence that all this is happening in early May, right before the mid May elections.

Now more than ever before we need an opposition leader who simply does not give a fuck about the status quo. You can guarantee 90% of people will say the "right" things about Jews, the economy, the 'far' left, etc. A genuine alternative doesn't need to.

Starmer is a Trojan Horse for a small group of colonialist psychopaths, he should be arrested, and tried for crimes against humanity.
