@mikenelson586 In a few years, it will be very clear that we would have been better off with a 140-pound nerd SecDef who had the brains and guts to tell the boss that 35,000 ton battleships are an apocalyptictically dumb idea.

Yeah, it was definitely interesting. Once I tried to calculate how much ammo I shot through different AK-12 prototypes and stopped at 14 000 rounds. Good times
Bell@mezbelly

Vladimir Onokoy (you may know him from Kalashnikov Media videos) was one of the luckiest guys who tested the earliest versions of AK-12 and even AK-107. Here's some of the photos: 1) AK-12, the second prototype. 2013; 2) Same; 3) AK-12, the third prototype. 2015; 4) AK-107.

The front sight base is not the sole criterion for identifying Chinese production. Type-56 manufactured in China between 1956 and 1960 used the same front sight style as Soviet models.

@rospigge60559 Thing is Gripen has a GE 414 in it. So either they pay to get a Snecma M88 or an EJ in it or the umbilical cord is still there

The “Danish Warning” & Canada’s Pivot to a Mixed Fleet (Jan 28, 2026) This morning, Danish defense officials reportedly issued a quiet “buyer’s remorse” warning to Canada over the F-35. Rasmus Jarlov, head of Denmark’s parliamentary defense committee, publicly urged Ottawa to “choose another fighter jet,” citing concerns about being locked into U.S. technical control. The message was clear: Sovereignty matters. This has now strengthened calls in Canada for a “German-style mixed fleet”: ✔️ Keep the 16 F-35s already paid for ✔️ Switch the remaining 72 to Gripen E ✔️ Preserve operational independence ✔️ Reduce political and technical risk It’s not about anti-Americanism. It’s about resilience. In an era of fractured alliances, countries are quietly rediscovering a simple truth: Control over your own air force is strategic power. #Defense #Aviation #F35 #Gripen #NATO #Geopolitics #AirPower #SecurityPolicy

As it seems, this is indeed the first legit image of the PLAAF’s ULR-AAM PL-17, even if it's only a model. However, it would be most interesting to know when this image was taken and where? 🤔

@Fabio34647653 @trip_to_valkiri I doubt that are so many left. A lot was cut to pieces with an Un program.Police at 90% got rid of them, few units being even unhappy. Army the same! So if there are 10k in depots we’re lucky. Some were gifted to Ukraine, together with 60mm mortars

MIG31 Engines The MiG-31 was a monster in its era. The two Soloviev D-30F6 reached around 3,000 km/h (Mach 2.83). No other aircraft came close in terms of power. It was far superior to everything that existed at the time, such as the F-14 Tomcat and F-15 Eagle, and compared to the Tornado it had roughly double the thrust. Only with the arrival of the F-22 did the West finally field something slightly superior to the MiG. Even when compared to modern fighters today, this beast still demonstrates its power, with roughly double the thrust of the Rafale and nearly 40% more than the F/A-18.

It is said that Norinco’s NR08 SMG was not a successful copy. Perhaps supplying it to Cambodia was essentially a half-sale, half-giveaway arrangement. There were reports that someone had previously seen it at a shooting range in Cambodia.

#Cambodia A RCA soldier armed with a Norinco NR08A submachine gun, guarding the entrance to a military installation. While the NR08A has previously made appearances in the hands of the GRK, it is possible that the RCA might start issuing NR08As to gate guards of certain installations. What is the NR08A replacing in this function? The Norinco Type 56 assault rifle family. Besides that, the NR08A is an unlicensed copy of the German H&K MP5A3 submachine gun. Which Cambodia is also a user of, but in limited quantities.
