Share your favourite interview question when interviewing a candidate applying for a deputy head role in a primary school?

@CensoredHead Have you reached out to your local maths hub for support? All schemes ultimately fail without effective PD alongside their implementation. SKTEM for ECTs would be a suitable workgroup.

We have an ECT and we use White Rose Maths. An experienced teacher can adapt the resources well, but ECT is using the scheme verbatim and I need to support them in moving away from this. Does anyone else find it is too concrete and pictorial heavy without enough abstract? It is

@MrHeadPrimary Beware of the jet wash when cleaning and leaving heated mirrors on. I have had mine replaced under warranty on a different VAG group car as the image became distorted. Still cool though!

@PrimaryCoHead We moved away from My Maths, but have struggled to find a suitable alternative. Anything I have looked at doesn’t appear to support the way we teach mathematics in school. Definite gap in the market for someone to fill.

Anyone use MyMaths in Primary? Last used it 9 years ago in Y6. Is it good for lesson support & online homework?

@MissKhan__ The head and I share a room. We are often passing ships but it’s a good place to catch up at the beginning and end of the day. It has a meeting table and some space to work with chn.

DHT’s: do you have your own office? If yes, how do you like it? If no, is it down to personal choice/space/other/do you wish you did have one????

@Headteacherchat We have been using @provisionmap for 3 years and as a SENDCo it has been really helpful for costing provision and monitoring the impact of provision.

Any suggestions on where I can receive coaching for interview? Or anyone happy to offer some coaching. In my last 11 years in education I’ve been told I’m shockingly bad in an interview- nervous - apparently I’m a different person. #leadership please RT @Headteacherchat :)

@Alex_Bramley3 How many times do class teachers end up missing out on time to repair the relationship with a child when something has went wrong? More often than not I would say. Fine with SLT supporting challenging behaviour but teacher needs to be involved in “putting it right”

I’m not sure of the logistics but a thought provoking idea from today’s course… SLT are often called to remove a child who may be struggling in class. What if SLT was called to cover the class so the teacher could build a positive relationship and investigate the behaviour?
