If I’m Ryan Smith, I’m not paying a premium to move from 2 to 1 for AJ Dybantsa. As much as the Jazz may want him, there's not enough difference between AJ and Peterson to justify trading away talent. Not when there’s a chance he falls to Utah anyway. If Washington wants Darryn Peterson, they’ll call. And if they call, it means they think they can trade down, let Utah take AJ, and still get their guy. If they do call, I'm not making a trade, but I'm feeling more secure about the chance of getting AJ after all. I doubt that Washington would trade lower than number two (maybe 3). There's too much of a talent drop-off.

Don't sleep on Cam Boozer at No. 1. Some really smart people around the NBA have him there, especially those running team draft models, which can be extremely influential in war rooms.

Maybe I’m seeing this through rose-tinted glasses, but Darryn Peterson’s camp telling teams that he is a PG feels more aimed toward Washington than Utah. Trae Young is a true one, and can’t really play the 2. Not the same story for Keyonte George.

I would rather have AJ over DP. But I’m not moving anything substantial to move up from 2 to 1. If I had to guess, Wizards are going to try and trade back to the 2-4 range and pick up some assets. It’s the best draft to do so.

If AJ Dybantsa’s camp expresses to Washington that they want to be in Utah I see very little needed to swap those picks. I’m sure they don’t see a huge gape from AJ and DP!
