🚨 DEVELOPING: Iranian media is circulating images of ID cards and documents allegedly left behind by U.S. forces during the dramatic rescue of a downed American pilot. The documents are being linked online to “Amanda M. Ryder” — but early analysis raises major doubts about that claim. Officials have been referring to the rescued pilot as a “Colonel,” while the ID shown does not match that rank. In addition, the individual appears to be a maintenance technician — a role considered highly unlikely to be part of a high-risk rescue mission. Sources reviewing the materials say the items were likely recovered from U.S. aircraft destroyed during the operation — reportedly 2 C-130 planes and 3 helicopters — rather than belonging to the rescued airman. Adding to the mystery, one of the documents includes an Israeli B2 entry permit, typically issued for tourism or business purposes. Bottom line: The viral claim about the pilot’s identity appears inconsistent with the known details — and the story behind these documents is only getting more complicated.

A man behind enemy lines, stranded on a mountain, and they still went back for him. Because that’s what the American military does. No matter the odds or the risk, they go. This rescue mission is more than just a success story, it’s a reminder of who we are. We are still a country that fights for its own. Because as long as there are Americans willing to risk everything to bring one of their own home, there is still hope.

The story behind the New York Times’ 1903 claim that human flight was between one and ten million years away is even worse than it looks. Once you understand the backstory, you realize that the New York Times story is not really about flight at all but about how elites and credentialed “experts” mistake their own failures for the boundaries of possibility. The New York Times did not dismiss the possibility of powered flight at random. There was a very specific reason behind it. At the time, America’s most prominent scientific authority, Smithsonian Secretary Samuel Langley, had been showered with large amounts of taxpayer funding to build an aircraft, the Langley Aerodrome. Despite all the money, institutional backing, and elite prestige, Langley and his team could not get it to fly, culminating in a series of very public failures, the last on December 8, 1903. So when the New York Times declared that flight was millions of years away, what it was really saying was that if the most credentialed and well-funded “experts” cannot do it, then it cannot be done. A mere nine days later, the elites’ proclamation of impossibility lay in ruins. Two totally unknown bicycle mechanics from Ohio achieved the first powered flight using improvised parts, a few hundred dollars of their own money, and sheer persistence. The story of flight is, at its core, a story of the triumph of American individualism over elite credentialism. The fact that it was the New York Times that inadvertently delivered the proof is the most fitting conclusion imaginable.

It's really hard for people who don't live around illegals and mass immigration to understand why the rest of us hate it so fucking much. Of course, from your whitest of white neighbourhood in Vermont, it's difficult to see why those of us in Texas (and other places) are so angry. You can't appreciate how shit it all is until you experience it day in and day out.

Does anyone else not really care about the Artemis II launch today? Don’t get me wrong, I love this kinda stuff, but I personally don’t care about a moon mission when we can’t even handle our own bs on earth.

Today, we're celebrating a lot of wins thanks to the Millionaires' Tax. A win for working families, with 460,000 additional Washingtonians added to the Working Families Tax Credit, an annual check for between $335 and $1,330. A win for small businesses, with 138,000 seeing their B&O tax reduced or eliminated. A win for kids, with free school breakfast and lunch for every student and investments in affordable childcare. And a win for all Washingtonians, with no sales tax on over-the-counter drugs, hygiene products, and diapers.

Important news for voting in Washington state: I recently signed 5 election-related bills, including to respond to federal efforts to access voter data. We established a state-level voting rights preclearance process for jurisdictions that have previously violated voting rights laws. We amended who can challenge a voter’s registration. We clarified the statute that information like a voter’s driver’s license number, Social Security number, or full birth date is confidential, and made unauthorized disclosure of private voter information a class C felony.  We strengthened coordination between elections offices and federally recognized Tribes. And we strengthened the Washington Voting Rights Act by clarifying how voting rights violations are addressed and resolved.

Them: "It must be nice to get all that free stuff in the military." The free stuff: - 0400 wake-up calls - Mold in the barracks - "govt issued" bed that ruins your back - Boots that feel like bricks - Life lessons like "never volunteer" and "hurry up and wait"

BREAKING: Washington State hit a multigenerational cattle ranch with a $267,540 penalty and a restoration order costing about $3.7 million — then told the owners they have no right to a jury trial. We filed suit to stop the State from stripping that constitutional guarantee.

@JohnStossel @sslivinski One of the top reasons I moved to Alabama. I built my home and one for my daughter. I paid $400 each for septic system permits. NOTHING MORE. When talking to the county before building. “Do I need permits or zoning? They replied “ it’s your land, do what you want”. Freedom!

A quarter of the price of a new home is due to regulations and permits. The process is “so convoluted,” explains economist @sslivinski, “It can take ... years to get simple permits.” That means fewer homes get built, and prices rise. Politicians should focus on that:
