A video of a man bursting balloons of a child vendor is being falsely shared as an act of hate. In reality, the clip is from Bangladesh and part of a longer video. The man later pays the child and asks him to go home and play. | @Shinjineemjmdr altnews.in/video-from-ban…

1/2 The EU and Norway's rhetoric of "open access" to pathogen data masks a system of biopiracy that preys on the Global South's resources. Behind closed doors, intellectual property monopolies are built on shared pathogen resources to generate profits for their Big Pharma.

Rohith Vemula did not ask the university to love him. He asked it to let him exist without humiliation. The Rohith Act begins from that modest, devastating demand—and measures how far our institutions still are from meeting it.  thenewsminute.com/premium/the-ro…

Have been receiving calls about my uncle's column in today's #IndianExpress. Deeply unsettling to read his column. It’s a sad state of affairs when a literary fest or a college symposium becomes a test of "nationalism" rather than a celebration of ideas. My uncle, #NaseeruddinShah,a receipent of national and international awards has spent a lifetime contributing to the soul of Indian cinema and theatre, yet today, relevance is measured by how much one "butters up" an organizer or praises the "Vishwaguru." If you don’t toe the line, you’re cancelled. If you don’t flatter the powerful, you’re excluded. Enough is enough. We need to stop turning our cultural institutions into echo chambers for the state. #NaseerUddinShah has always called a spade a spade, but it seems today’s "gatekeepers" of culture prefer silence and sycophancy over honesty. Truly shameful. Those who dont know what iam talking about, sharing the column here. #NaseeruddinShah #CancelCulture #SpeakTruthToPower #AcademicFreedom

It was a privilege to be a Post correspondent, roaming the world the last 7+ years for a paper I very much believed in. I'm gone along with the rest of the ME team and majority of teammates from Delhi to Beijing to Kyiv & Latam. Sad day, but it was a lot of fun and we raised hell

Sequence of Events : Adani Eyed NDTV in 2016 NDTV was raided multiple times after 2017 It was made sure that NDTV is squeezed to its last breath Prannoy Roy resisted, refused to sell the channel Raids and Pressure became more intense Ultimately succumbed and agreed to sell NDTV in 2022 Adani took over, changed NDTV from a journalism channel to a Dalaali Network Raids stopped, Pranoy Roy and Radhika Roy ultimately got clean chit today. Unreal how a businessman , government, courts and the system came together to destroy the only media house asking questions to the government. History will remember this.
