Sovereign Defence. Nothing less. We did not get here by talking. We got here because a small team burnt the midnight oil bent over oscilloscopes, RF benches, soldering stations, and FPGA toolchains, building things from first principles when it would have been easier to import them. This contract matters but what it represents matters more: that Sovereign Defence capability is not a slide in a deck anymore. It is a deliverable, on a PO, with a delivery schedule. This changes nothing about how we work tomorrow morning. The next system still has to be designed, debugged, qualified, shipped. To the early investors who wrote cheques on conviction, before defence in India was a fashionable thesis, and who understood that this work does not move on consumer timelines - a big thank you! If you build things on hard mode, if you want to contribute to building Sovereign Defence, we are hiring across the stack. 2 years of product evolution in 30 seconds. Whiteboard sketches. Prototypes. 20+ trials. Soldier feedback. Sleepless nights - all culminating into a contract from the Ministry of Defence. SURGE is headed for the frontlines. and this is just the beginning. 🇮🇳

One of the very important choices we made early on was to build hardware like software - iterative. Instead of designing products in simulations we chose to take crude prototypes to field early and often. That's the only way we understand. This has also been a great filter to recruit as well - whoever thinks that you need to design a perfect product and sets timelines in months is an easy to spot misfit. Our timelines work in days and weeks, not months and years. @ArmoryShield

Defence tech startup @ArmoryShield has secured a ₹100 Cr ($10.5 Mn) order from the defence ministry for its AI-powered counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS), SURGE.👇 Under the agreement, the company will manufacture and deploy SURGE systems for Indian forces. The platform leverages its proprietary ‘Samaritan OS’ to detect, track, and neutralise rogue drones by scanning environments at high frequency and continuously learning new RF signatures to strengthen its threat library. Following the order, Armory plans to scale its manufacturing capacity, expand hiring, enhance its product portfolio, and strengthen its R&D centre in Manesar. Founded in 2024 by Amardeep Singh (@singhamardeep), Armory develops AI-enabled C-UAS solutions designed to detect and counter rogue drones, with systems built using continuous user feedback to address real-world operational conditions. 🔗 Read the full article here: 4-2.co/4wd677w #Inc42 #news #Startups #Startupfundings #Defencetech

Breaking: Armory has won a ₹100 Cr order from the Ministry of Defence and Surge is going to the frontlines. We are officially an Indian Defence Manufacturer and we're not going to pretend to be cool about this. We're proud. Really, really proud. Built from zero. 20+ trials. Took notes from the soldiers who'd actually use it. Went back. Enhanced it. And won MoD’s trust in us. To the frontlines. Surge is ready. 🇮🇳

49 drones. One pulse. All gone. Beyond the tech, it shows a shift where scale and economics matter as much as firepower. Recent conflicts highlight a brutal reality: cheap kamikaze drones cost a fraction of the interceptors sent to destroy them. The aggressor doesn’t need to win. He just needs to keep the math working in his favour. And while lasers are much cheaper & great for precision, they only engage one target at a time. Against a swarm, that’s a problem. HPM doesn’t have that constraint. It covers a volume of space, not a point. Both are meant to complement kinetic systems (missiles, guns) rather than replace them. The future of air defense is clearly layered, with each technology filling a different niche. For India, this is very pertinent. Importing solutions reactively isn't a strategy. Building indigenous, AI-enabled HPM and laser capability early is. We have the talent. We just need faster procurement, patient capital, and institutions that let deep-tech startups scale. On a personal note, I’ve recently taken on the role of Chairman of iCreate, a leading deep-tech incubator in Gujarat. I would like it to be the home for exactly this kind of innovation. If you’re building the technologies that will define tomorrow’s defense, do check it out at icreate.org.in
