@aravind I appreciate your theories, been following you for a while. Also invested in India. That said, 170% returns over a decade in $ terms are mediocre at best. And what to say about the travesty of LTCG by the Modi Govt.

A simple advice to millions of youngsters in India who have taken to investing in the last decade: Never mix your political views with finance. The capitalists in this country play all sides. Never fall for fear mongering and propaganda using short term trends. Stay invested long term. Especially in India's growth. You can't go wrong. For example, just to rebut this post below, if you had invested in 2014 when Modi became PM, by 2024 you would have gained a return of a whopping 275% from the Indian stock market. And this is excluding dividends. Even in US dollar terms (accounting for depreciation of the rupee) you would have got a world beating return of 170%.

I started writing about India before it was cool (for an American) mainly because I grew fascinated with Indian history & politics. While Hinduism was always interesting to me, I didn't care as much about contemporary India. Firstly, because I was born & raised in America. Secondly, because what I saw of India prior was nothing short of hellish. It wasn't the mindboggling levels of poverty or the filth swallowing our most sacred of sites or even the cynicism of the streets. It was that nothing seemed to change with each visit. But in the late 2010s/early 2020s, I not only observed visible changes by data but also saw it myself. Beyond the visible changes in infrastructure & economy, it also meant a lot to me to see Ram Mandir become a reality along with other religio-cultural Overton shifts that you'll mostly find only in bemoaning articles in The Wire or Caravan. Additionally, even prior to that, Indian politics was the real life Game of Thrones. Ancient histories intertwining with brutish political battles. Grand coalitions constructing and collapsing on the backs of mundane village tussle. So many different players and legacies duking it out over the Peacock Throne of Delhi. Forget my Indian roots, this is entertaining af. But one thing I think that has shifted a lot for me though is how India's opposition/Left has been fanning anti-Indian & anti-Hindu hatred even abroad. I always hated the Indian Left for being anti-Hindu & condemning India to SSS (Street Shitting Squalor), but now it was becoming increasingly personal with the constant support of anti-Indian sentiments abroad. Whether it was via legislation like the caste law in California or by encouraging violence through tweets and allying with Wignats, this has become an intimate animosity. What the Indian Left does affects the diaspora personally now. And while I never took it to heart if people say I am not a citizen so I should STFU (Ofc they wouldn't do so for someone sharing their viewpoint; this is just an Overgrown Village mentality), now what the Indian Left is fanning does personally affect myself & my family & friends. So I will continue writing about & learning about India. My videos will start to shift into non-Indian stuff (for monetization purposes), but Indian topics will remain as well, simply because of my passion for them. India may well be humanity's greatest story yet, or perhaps it always has been.

@hubermanlab Dr Huberman, I appreciate you for brining this knowledge to the masses. I encourage you to cite & credit the practices where it culturally originates “Ujjayi Breathing” is an essential part of Yoga. Similar to “Yog Nidra”, now marketed as NSDR Discovered in India, for the world

Try: Inhaling via your nose & draw the air “back” parallel to the roof of your mouth) not “upwards”. This reflexively engages deep diaphragmatic breathing which has numerous benefits for your brain & body. Done 2-3x/day you’ll start to default to it in sleep, which is beneficial.

Sad but utterly True

I know a teen who likes to order-in and eat Pizzas, Burgers, Chinese noodles, and Kathi rolls. They are also very fussy about their food and always have a complaint. I noticed they always called and complained to their Dominos and McD, but they never complained to the Chinese takeaway or the hole-in-the-wall Kathi roll shop. So I asked them casually if the Chinese and Indian food were always good? They said, "No, they are the worst. Last time I even found hair in my food. But they do not even pick up the phone. They are so rude! Once they picked up the phone and hung-up on me after I complained." And what went wrong with your Dominos delivery today? I asked. "Nothing much uncle, they are good but the Cheese seemed less this time. So I told them that and the store manager called back just now, she has given me a voucher for the next delivery." That's when I realized something. What I now call the "CATCH-22" of providing good service - "Courteous Assistance Triggers Complaints and Harassment." And this CATCH-22 is the situation our Modi govt is facing. They build amazing highways, change the face of airways, revolutionize mobile & internet, transform payments, start a manufacturing boom, keep inflation lower than the decade before in-spite of wars and covid, end income taxes for 90% of Indians, assist even non-tax paying NRIs in need putting our officials and ministers at risk. Yet, what do they get? Constant complaints, criticism, and harassment over everything. Why? Because they are like the Dominos and McDs facing CATCH-22. Only when you care, provide good service, and take your customers or, in this case, citizens seriously, you will get too many complaints and criticism. When you behave like the Chinese take-away or the hole-in-the-wall Indian, providing worst service, and not caring about any grievance, the public will just shut up and accept it as normal taking the crap you give. This is how Indians were treated in the decades before and India was kept underdeveloped which people had no complaints about. Even if they had any, nobody cared. Perhaps, that's what we still deserve. Because, right now, what I see is just entitlement and arrogance even in complaints and criticism. Not an iota of gratitude for what the govt has done to help for a situation they put themselves into here:

I think India should mirror the US in setting up a strategic crypto reserve. Bitcoin gives me CIA vibes all the time. There's something about it that the US is going to use to ensure continued financial dominance in the world. It may be safer to create the reserve than not for 🇮🇳

I think disagreement is the engine of change. Good ideas win or lose on their merits. It might be short-form memes or long-form articles and books. But you need to be able to win your arguments that way. Force is the *last* resort, usually in defense from irrationality. But.🧵
