@thereallsu777 @TheDataCage Correct, this not a training tool, so the mass will remain constant. What will change is the hitters response overtime. As the hitter acclimates themselves to change in weight and demonstrates an adjustability that was not possible with a -3 player safety will be compromised.

This is not good for High School baseball for a lot of reasons. 1. Safety- You’ll have 18 year olds with the option to swing a -6. Look out! 2. HS Stats/Recruiting will be irrelevant. No legitimate evaluator cares what numbers you put up with anything other than a -3 3. It delays physical development instead of requiring it. High school baseball has always represented a step up. Players should develop the strength and mechanics required to handle a -3. Allowing a 16- or 17-year-old to stay with a -6 can become a shortcut around necessary physical development. 4. Rewards bat speed over hitting ability. A lighter bat is easier to accelerate and manipulate - allows hitters to get away with later decisions, weaker sequencing, and less efficient movement patterns that may be exposed when they eventually move to a heavier bat. 5. Developmental gap between high school and college baseball. This may be the biggest problem. A player could spend his senior year swinging a -6 and then be expected to handle a -3 in college. Instead of creating a smoother developmental pathway, the rule could simply postpone the most difficult transition. 6. Unrealistic Scouting Evaluations. A 95 mph exit velocity with a -6 and a 95 mph exit velocity with a -3 are not necessarily the same evaluation. Scouts and college coaches will now need to ask: What bat was he swinging? The equipment becomes another variable when evaluating bat speed, strength, power, and impact. 7. Encourages equipment optimization instead of player development. Struggling to catch up to velocity? Drop from -3 to -6. Need more bat speed? Change equipment. The danger is that the first solution becomes buying a lighter bat instead of improving strength, timing, mechanics, and approach.
