Hello February🥳🥳 My NGO @greeniecarehub provided 145 sanitary kits containing sanitary pads, detergents and tissue papers to 125 young girls and 20 teachers in Community High School, Abaren. Each pack handed to the girls felt like placing a shield of confidence in her hands.

I want a leader who values my life and well-being.

I don't think periods should be embarrassing even though there is a difference between shame and privacy. Menstruation is a normal, honorable part of womanhood much like many other private realities of being human. We don't shame people for using the toilet, but we also don't defecate in public to prove there is nothing shameful about it. Dignity is not shame and privacy Privacy is not embarrassment. I learned this lesson in SS2. One afternoon, our Geography teacher asked our Head Girl a question but she refused to stand or answer. The class grew irritated and the teacher became frustrated. Almost everyone thought she was being stubborn. Then I politely spoke up. "Sir, please leave her alone. I'll explain after class." After the lesson, I told him what I suspected: she was probably on her period and had stained herself. After school, we got her a pad and she went home. That is why I respect every effort to provide sanitary pads for girls. It is why I celebrate people like my friend Maazi(@maazimilk), who is helping distribute pads to thousands of girls across the South-East. Every society that exists today was built on generations of women who bled. The least we can do is ensure girls have dignity, support, and access to sanitary products.

Every month, the uterus prepares itself to nurture a life within it. ​And when that life does not arrive, it lets go of everything it had carefully built. ​Then, somehow, it begins again. ​Perhaps resilience was written into women long before motherhood ever was.
