@mitchysuch @hidrokarbone And it SOLVED AN ACTUAL PROBLEM. AI conveniently skips over climate change, and corruption, and lack of healthcare. It solves nothing pressing!

@mitchysuch @hidrokarbone The power loom did not come into creation because the richest people in society envisioned it and willed it into being. It was iterated over centuries, by people ranging from the poorest to the upper middle-class, until it was a useful product and found ubiquity. Come the fuck on

@mitchysuch @hidrokarbone And Lorenz OPENLY interacts with some of these freaks! Tells them how good their product is! You think Marx would have been buddy-buddy with the people who represented everything he opposed? Jesus fucking Christ, man. This is insanity. You are insane.

@mitchysuch @hidrokarbone Like you think he would have been cool with Palantir?????? With the government signing surveillance contracts, just because it’s “new?” I will repeat myself: Get. A. Grip. AI is THE Capitalist project.

@hidrokarbone @mitchysuch The technology “solves” problems that we never had in the first place. And I’m being told, now, that using it to look up recipes with no relation to Lorenz’s work at all is her “understanding the enemy?” You are EXTREMELY stupid people.

@hidrokarbone @mitchysuch The notion that Marx would have supported this is ridiculous. It’s like saying he would have participated in slavery, or helped round up and imprison paupers. Absolutely unserious and insane opinion.

@mitchysuch Nothing about “understanding technology” has anything to do with tolerance for it. Taylor Lorenz isn’t looking up recipes to “understand the enemy,” lmfao, she’s using it to serve herself.

@mitchysuch I’m replying to your tweet. Marx would have absolutely resisted a technology being forced on people by fascistic aristocrats, it’s insane to believe otherwise.

@emiliesyverson @pot8um Thanks for the tag! @claudeai 100% uses copyrighted content without compensating creators. They just launched a recipe card feature that makes them look more legit but they are untested Frankenstein recipes that use our photos & hard work. cc @lilyraynyc x.com/inspiredtaste/…

Great, now @claudeai has specifically engineered sloppy step by step "interactive" Frankenstein recipes🙄 How long will it take for AI companies to understand that most users want to find trusted tested human recipes?! 🧵(1/2) cc @rustybrick @glenngabe @lilyraynyc @gregfinn

and yet, this is your favorite platform? also, "claude is the best product I've ever used" and "I use [AI] for recipes all the time" are far cries from "occasional use" but hell, what do i know? i'm certainly no journalist! more flip-floppery than a shoe store in april.

The only thing “agonizingly unserious” is anyone using Elon Musk’s AI platform day in and day out trying to claim they have the moral high ground on a high profile journalist known for reporting critically on AI, who occasionally uses the tools *it’s her job to report on.*

@_ontologic @9mmballpoint Yes it can do INDIVIDUALLY good things, but drops in the bucket compared to war contracts, surveillance, erosion of truth, marketplaces being spammed with fake products. There is NO AMOUNT OF EFFORT we can take that outweighs these things, bc it’s the seedbed it was built on.

@_ontologic @9mmballpoint AI was invented in a world with MASSIVE problems of inequity, corruption, and climate change. It solves none of those things, and worsens most of them. The things it does “improve” never had issues in the first place!!!!!! It does literally nothing!

Techbro: You will all lose your jobs, your art, and any ability to know what's real or fake. We have decided that this is a fact of life now, and humanity must submit to our new world. Leftists: That sounds bad. Techbro: OH SO YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO HORSES AND STAGECOACHES???

The lack of any fundamental curiosity at all about AI from the left has been one of the most discouraging things of my life, but that’s okay because I will simply become the epicenter of a new and cooler left that likes technology

@_ontologic @CheeseGalaxy3 @9mmballpoint the only tech to EVER rival its total dissolution of society is the nuclear bomb. It’s immoral and destructive, and I never wanted or needed it. It solves NONE of society’s broader issues of climate change and corruption. I don’t want to be using Nazi technology!!!!!!!!!!

@_ontologic @CheeseGalaxy3 @9mmballpoint It is a tool that—no matter WHO uses it!—leads to: -false information -lack of accountability for decision making -inability to check sources -erosion of veracity and verification -Frankenstein software that’s been iterated by so many AI that no one knows how it works

@TaylorLorenz @n_e_rd Out of curiosity, have you ever looked up the same recipe twice? You will get wildly different measurements, ingredients, and cooking times. It’s uniquely bad at what you’re using it for!!!!!

@s_pect_re @syderature I have done this several times with different people, and every single time they go “woah, holy shit.” It’s picking and choosing from multiple different recipes all over the web, so nothing fits together. HER life is worse specifically because she uses it!

@s_pect_re @syderature For one, it’s UNIQUELY poor at recipes, because there’s so many variables. Recipes are exactly what I use to show my friends how bad genAI is! I have us both look up the same recipe, and it gives us both wildly different measurements, ingredients, and cooking times.
