@manas_muduli Less than Rs.500 cost one way for 5 pax. 100/person. (including fuel, toll). Additionally we enjoyed the drive, visited other places and local sightseeing using auto by parking car at Jagannath Ballav parking. Bus is good if stand is near and no senior citizen or kids.

Bhubaneswar to Puri in an AC bus costs just ₹99 - less than the toll tax if you take your own car. You pay less than ₹2 per km in CRUT buses. Even a family of four can travel for around ₹400. Meanwhile, taking a car means petrol/diesel costs, toll charges, parking charges, traffic and more pollution. Public transport is not just cheaper, it is smarter and more sustainable. The point is - People should try using public transport as much as possible, and govt must continue investing in better buses and go for mass rapid transit systems.

Regarding reducing the usage of petrol and diesel, how about this? 👇 Impose an additional tax on the use of personal vehicles. Cameras can be installed to automatically issue challans on them. Reward people for using public transport through credit points or tax benefits. Using cycles within city limits should be rewarded even more. Dedicated bus lanes and cycle lanes can be developed on a war footing.
