I've given it some thought and I've concluded that I am a prison abolitionist. Prison is expensive and ineffective. Instead, crimes should result in one or more of these: -fines -caning -execution

@BuenoForMiami @sweatystartup All you really need is a neighborhood that is mostly owner-occupied. I was the bad neighbor when I first moved in, for reasons beyond my control I couldn’t take care of the grass. I got my shit together without a complaint from anyone, just my own guilt.

@sweatystartup I live in an HOA-free zone, and the houses around here are all nice. It turns out people want nice houses even without being forced to have them. Also, most people in my neighborhood have farm animals and fruit trees in their yards, something an HOA may disapprove of.

All the rich people I know love living in places with HOAs. No broken down boats. Rainbow yard signs. Grass 2 feet tall. Lack of weed control. Broken fridge on front porch. Broke people hate HOAs because they hate doing basic things to make their houses look nice.
