@Michaelfiore 100% agree. As a one-man social media team, I have to be selective with my time. Focusing on Facebook Reels has produced some of the biggest organic growth we’ve ever had. Photos keep our current audience engaged, but Reels are what bring in new people.

Think you can grow on Facebook without posting Reels? Think again. I post ~130 pieces of content on Facebook per week. 7 of those are reels. Reels are 6% of the content we produce but account for 86% of our views! The bigger story is in the 2nd image though. The majority of the views on our image posts are from people that already follow us. Reels, however, are the opposite. The majority (78%) of our Reel views are from people that aren’t following us! That’s because Meta is using original content Reels as the PRIMARY means of people discovering your page. Conclusion: if you’re only posting images and text, you will not get discovered by new people (unless you spend a ton with ads). If you want organic growth on Facebook right now you HAVE TO BE POSTING REELS.

Next week will be the 10 year anniversary of the Locked On Podcast Network. There will be a show highlighting some of the best moments over the past decade, both on the show and in Auburn. What moments do you remember (other than the debate between Kyle and Jake 😅) …

I have a rule that I ALWAYS double check when someone else hooks a trailer onto my truck…. Well… I didn’t follow my rule today. The trailer repair shop hooked it up but didn’t lock the clamp onto the ball. I lost the trailer going over a bump, but thankfully the safety chains did their job. I was only going about 35 and was able to safely stop with only minor damage to the truck’s bumper and trailer jack. I was still close to the shop and they came with a jack to help me get hooked up again. They were very apologetic and will be fixing the damages. It’s all good.

@Michaelfiore In the visual industry we are in, I do feel like it is a benefit for them to see the design. Customers with the ai designs are ready to buy not just look when they visit and I’m all for that!

AI is fundamentally changing how people approach home improvement and landscaping. For us we are seeing people bring in AI generated landscape plans along with full plant lists that AI generated. The customer says something like “make a low maintenance landscape plan for my house and show me what it would look like.” I love it because it instantly shows people how much better their home could look with re-vamped landscaping and it’s actually giving really good plant suggestions in most cases. Then people can come here and they already have a good idea of what they’re wanting.

Got a bid to paint my house. I ran it through AI, had it put together some questions, and sent it to the painter. He responded with this, and I never heard from him again.

@Michaelfiore @adamstatonsmith It’s Dewalt for me. I will say my choice was heavily influenced by how many tools/batteries my dad has that I can supplement my tools with.

@adamstatonsmith Same, I use Ryobi at home and DeWalt at work. Ryobi is 1/3 the price and gets the job done fine for home projects. That means I can afford more variety of tools. I will say though I did not have good luck with the Ryobi pressure washers. Hand tools have been great though.

This is crap. I’m a ryobi guy. I’m an average homeowner. I’d rather have an amazing suite of tools that I use 6x a year than have spent all my money on dewalt drill that I’ll never push near its limits. I’m hanging picture frame for god sakes
Scotch@scotchscotchzz

I witnessed a man at Home Depot go down a dark path. This choice will lead to a broken home, a promiscuous wife, gay children, and unfinished projects while drinking seltzers. If you don’t take your tools seriously you don’t take your life seriously.

@AUBradLaw I am on your side with the Kentucky baseball team canceling the midweek, I think it should be treated as a forfeit and should negatively affect RPI. Teaching student athletes if you don’t feel like showing up to work it’s ok you don’t have to. #zaciswrong

I was talking to someone this morning about the difference between a Botanist and a Horticulturist, but I think this picture explains it better.

One of the things that first pulled me into the plant world as a kid was growing a special cucumber variety with my grandma. The proceeds from those plants went into a scholarship fund. Years later, we still grow that same variety today, and now I get to help award a yearly scholarship to a local student pursuing agriculture or horticulture. Pretty cool seeing something that started with one plant come full circle.

@Travis_Junk Luckily I send as many as I can back to the suppliers/warehouse. Usually I can give some away to customers but there is always some that I help magically disappear in the fall. 🔥

Pretty gnarly hail at the garden center right now. Praying it doesn’t get any bigger than this! I do not want to go through what we had last year.

My best tips on speaking to a camera that feel timely given timeline discourse: - The camera isn't judging you, you're judging yourself - Speak like you're vibing with your best friend - Vary pace & tone, don't just recite information - If you're really bad, go do Toastmasters for reps or improv to kill internal self-judgment fast - If you're boring at all it literally doesn't matter at all what you're saying, no one cares. Fix that first - It's more like singing a song than giving a speech, the energy is often more important than the substance in that it gets a viewer to keep watching so you can deliver substance

One of the best parts of being a grower + retailer: We don’t guess what works… we grow with it first. Then it goes straight to the retail floor. Working with Jack’s makes that easy—what we trust in production is exactly what we hand to customers. And this combo basket right here might be my favorite of the year.
