@IsabelFain16 MG acquisitions are trending toward lower word counts partly because of the pandemic

I got an agent rejection because my word count was too high. It currently stands at 61K but for MG the typical range is 30-50K. I don’t think it’s too much over the limit, but should I rework to fit in the typical range? 🤔

One of the things I'm gaining from doing the applications is adding to my TBR. I love the visual MSWL mentors post on their pages. I'm checking the pages of the mentors I'm not eligible for, too, just to see what they're reading and loving. @PBRisingStars

The price of getting a manuscript printed and bound at Staples has gone from $50 to NINETY FIVE in the last three years...guess I am not reading this book on paper 🥲

@MerriamWebster @JeffersRoad It all goes back to Ferdinand de Saussure. You can't argue with the father of linguistics. Well, you can, but you'd be wrong. Language evolves with time and social force. Nothing else can change it... though dictionaries slow the change a little.

@JeffersRoad It’s not “giving in,” it’s documenting how people actually use the language. Dictionaries define the breadth of the language, and not simply the elegant parts at the top.

The problem is that we try to defend you, @MerriamWebster, by correcting incorrect usage, but you eventually undermine our support by saying: "If people are wrong long enough, then we give in and make them right." (See, for example, how "literally" now also means "figuratively.")

#Experts autistic people can't have meaningful relationships-BS. My 10 y/o has had the same GF/BFF for 3 years. She recently had a massive epileptic seizure. He insisted delivering her fav things. If I could get a few well-wishes for Tova, I'd appreciate it! #WritingCommunity
