This year, we mark 75 years of standing with people when the ground shifts beneath their feet. In 1968, IOM teams worked day and night to support 40,000 Czechoslovak refugees on their journey to safety. These journeys shaped us. #IOM75 iom.int/iom-history

Four Cuvu District villages—Cuvu, Yadua, Tore & Rukurukulevu, are now officially UNESCO/IOC #TsunamiReady! 🌊 They join the only six certified communities in Fiji, all in Sigatoka, after meeting all 12 national indicators and completing a full-scale tsunami drill.

Pacific Islands Forum
Pacific Islands Forum@ForumSEC·
The Pacific Regional Framework on Climate Mobility (PRFCM) was endorsed at the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders (PIF) Meeting in 2023 in Cook Islands. It serves as a guide for Forum governments, communities, non -state actors and partners in ensuring rights -based and people centred movement in the context of climate change, including staying in place, planned relocation, displacement and migration. Leaders further endorsed the implementation of the Framework as one of the Regional Collective Actions for delivering on the goals the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. The Implementation Plan 2025-2030 was subsequently endorsed in 2025 to deliver on these commitments. One of the five key priority actions in the Implementation is enabling peer-to-peer exchanges between Forum member countries on planned relocation. This month Palau and Fiji commenced the first peer-to-peer exchange, which included a field visit to the village of Tukuraki to learn from the lived experiences of a relocated community. The engagement was supported by the International Organization for Migration and the Platform on Disaster Displacement. As part of the exchange, representatives from Palau and Fiji’s Planned Relocation Taskforce were at the PIF Secretariat on 22 January to engage in dialogue and share experiences and challenges associated with addressing planned relocation. The exchange delivers on the commitments made by Forum Leaders in PRFCM to strengthen regional mechanisms for capturing and sharing lessons learned from past relocations and determine best practices. #OneBluePacific #Regionalism
