Jeffrey Rath has endorsed a plan that calls for a leadership review of Premier Danielle Smith, who must be removed for a pro-separation leader, who will then replace the current sovereignty question. Like, seriously, you don't need to hold a referendum to hold a referendum if you get elected as an explicit separatist party in a general election.
Do that and you just...have a democratic mandate to hold a separation referendum.

@jengerson I’m not from Alberta, but my moral compass tells me that the UCP should declare itself a secessionist party, and win an election as such before they force a referendum. 178K on a petition in a province of 5M is far too low a bar to subject Alberta to this uncertainty

Lévesque and Parizeau first campaigned and won general elections after promising to hold a referendum. Smith should do that.
