Their home was bombed on October 7, forcing the family into repeated displacement, with Basheer reporting they have been displaced at least 17 to 18 times since the start of the genocide. Before the siege, he worked in a clothing store that was destroyed in an airstrike that also martyred the owner and his family, leaving him without income. Basheer’s mother lives with high blood pressure and arthritis, has lost sight in her right eye, and now faces weakening vision in her left eye that requires surgery and travel for treatment, while her medications cost approximately 500–700 shekels each month. The family is sheltering near an exploded sewer line, where poor conditions have contributed to health concerns for Khalil, who has suffered bug and flea bites, faces malnutrition, and requires diapers and formula.
